tvs2300...i want one, but how?

Default tvs2300...i want one, but how?

hi, im trying to plan out a 6.0 build ill be doing over the next year or so, trying to decide if its worth trying to find a tvs2300 used and getting all the stuff to make it work or just save up and get a kit, i plan on getting a 05+ LQ4 with the stock heads ( hopefully ill get to port them), i would like to get on of the jack shaft vertions of the tvs2300...any one out there think that is something that i could find used? i have seen a few of the 1900 out there but little to no 2300

any input about the kits or the supercharger itself or where to get one would be very helpful

I'm in college right now so any tips on saving money on the build will help, but i still want one hell of a motor to put in the truck lol

Not trying to be mean here, but a "budget minded" TVS2300 build is gonna be difficult. At a minimum, you're going to need a very well-built (read EXPENSIVE) 4l60e, or a 4l80e conversion. Also, the G80 (Gov-bomb) differential is suspect.

I wouldnt hesitate to pick up a used blower in good condition. A 2300 will be more than enough for a stock displacement 6.0, so IMO i wouldnt be dead set on a jackshaft version if i couldnt find one. The front drive ones seem to be more common

i know its not going to be cheap but the school i go to is a tech collage and i can do all the machining myself and i can build up a 4l60 with a monster in a box kit when i have my trans class and only be in it for around 1000-1200, the rear will be upgraded or replaced with a 14 bolt when i have the class for that...i know its still a little bit on the crazy side but id like to see if there is a way to make it possible, oh and my truck is one of the very few Z71s that did not come with the G80, and i may not swap in the motor right off might build it now then when i'm out of collage and hopefully more cash finish up the supporting mods and give the motor a home

collage is going good 3.7 GPA so i guess im not the dumbest guy out here lol

You are going to be hard pressed to find a TVS2300 cheap, let alone a jackshaft one. A front inlet, front drive is capable of giving your motor more then enough boost. If you run a OD crank pulley and a 8rib setup a 2300 will hit 18-20psi. I think you may be putting the cart before the horse so to speak. Not sure what your goals are but even doing the work yourself you cannot buy all the best 60e parts for those prices, close but more in the 1500-1700 range. Just a FYI

Ok, back on topic. Why are you dead set on a 2300? For a stock motor a 1900 will push you quite aways and you can find them selling in the classifieds much more often.

I would think long and hard before starting to try a build like this while in college, I was in college once too and its just too much at once. Projects like this can get expensive fast, when you plan to push a decent amount of power then plan to spend some money or have 3-4k laying around to drop at a moments notice on a trans or motor. If that is a issue then you are going to have a truck that may not be running. Obviously you know what you have to work with better then we do, just some friendly advise from someone that has been through it.
