It couldn't have been a heat issue, had to be arcing. It is a real thing, just never heard of it happening on smaller automotive engines.

Great point. Which brings us back to what was asked above, where was it grounded and what type of welding?

Mine tossed the pulley when converted over to 8 rib. It tossed it after I tig welded it. Most everyone had me freaked out about giving it too much heat so I welded a very light bead around it figuring that there is no way it would be an issue. It ripped the weld out of the pump shaft.

This is what i expected him to say. Im going to do mine on the motor today. Disconnect the ecm prolly to be safe. As for water pump heat, i can tell you that they will handle 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes and fully function. I know this because i powder coated mine and it was in the oven at that temp for that duration. I have been running it without issues thus far.

Update:

Got the 8 rib all installed (still need to put the metco Idlers on) and I welded the water pump on the motor with battery and ecm disconnect without any issues. Truck seems to run pretty good, not sure on the psi of boost right now but im at a 3.2" pulley with the 10% OD Crank Dampener. Going to Data log it and get it sent off to BBP tonight and try and see where im at for boost levels. Anyone have a recommended safe boost limit on these 6.2ls with meth?

I know Justin will be able to tell me but at what point is the stock flex fuel pump generally going to be maxed out? I have a wahlbro 450 im planning to add soon.

Update:

trucl runs great on a 3.2" pulley seems to be about 10lbs with some 30 degree ambient air. I have a 3.0 pulley on order now so that will be going in soon. Justin told me im good for fuel and do not need to swap to the walbro 450 i have with the setup as planned. Anyone got any idea when ill need to swap, i havent checked my fuel pressure as the gauge is not hooked up but i may check it with efilive soon. 8 rib pulley test fit with the 6 rib belt.

Update:

swapped on a 3.0 pulley added a 2nd meth nozzle and my metco idlers and exhaust cutout back on. Saw boost as high as 13-13.5psi and the truck is a freight train at that boost level. Nervous it mau be too much however so ill probably swap to a 3.1" pulley. Im still on the factory flex pump.
