By the time you are done spending money building some odd ball engine I'm sure you will have spend much more than if you just used a SBE and it won't be able to produce any more HP than a SBE if you use stock rods.
I guess thats an option just use the stock 5.7 pistons and save a bunch of money. Anyone know roughly how much hp the 5.7 can take in stock form? I guess I dont know how much hp a 5.3 to 5.7 aluminum block can handle. Might be pointless to go forged if a bored out 5.3 can only handle 600hp.

When I built my LS1 back in 08, I just when on ebay and found the cheapest forged Maule LS1 pistons and Scat rods becuase I needed pistions and rods and used those. If it was me, I'd just hunt for the cheapest forged pistons and use your current gen4 rods and have the added insurance of a little stronger pistons in case you rattle it. I wouldn't worry about how strong the block is, I think you'll run out of turbo before you make enough power to hurt the block.

$350-$400 to bore and hone the block. Does that sound about right? Guessing they are charging about double for removing that much material.

Not sure if it's a good price. But I am sure it's pretty close to the cost of a good 6.0 block.

Just talked to a shop today that will bore it for around $200. He said he has never done this with a LC9 block and not sure it can be done. Is there a difference between the l33 and the lc9? Thought the lc9 just has dod/afm. Don't want to ruin the block. If nobody has done this on one before might just rebuild as a 5.3 again. If to risky. Thanks for helping guys.
