My IAT's are through the roof with the radix pushing 12 psi into my 4.8 so im looking into better cooling. Ive done some searching and got some good info, just wanted to get some input on this set up.

Radix IC ---> Stock resivoir and pump --> HEX --> ice box, with frozen water bottles or ice packs inside, and back to the radix IC.

Will the cold water damage the radix intercooler and will water wetter and water corrode anything?

Something like that would work but it be a hassle in my opinion finding somewhere to mount it, having to worry with ice or extra water that wouldnt last long.. Also i wouldnt bother with the water wetter, that stuff dosent make enough of an improvement to warrant its cost or the possibility of causing problems down the road. If it was my project i would try a bigger intercooler, also somebody had made a spacer awhile back to seperate the charger from the engine by maybe 1/2" and the IAT's went down by like 30-40 degrees.. Maybe he will chime in.

I have plenty of space to mount it, i can probably just keep the coolant in there with the ice packs in the box. bigger heat exchanger is already on the list

Like said, get the CTSV h/x and look into one of Supersub's phenolic spacers. I think those two items alone should get you were you want.

Ice bottle don't give enough surface area to do any real good.
We offer larger water tank's depending on year model.
Easy to add ice and hold 1.5-2.0 gallons more fluid. Ice will only help tell it melts away.

Larger hx will help some. Like ither have already said.

I have heard that the larger heat exchangers do very little for lowering IAT's, but rather help out with recovery time after making a hard pull. Might consider that, someone confirm or correct me. Your best bang for your buck would be a meth kit IMO, but that brings other issues to the table when spraying across the rotors in some cases

Yeah, i say go with the bigger intercooler and the phenolic spacer and see where that gets you.. Then go from there.

The heat exchanger is already on order!

Meth is out of the Q, ive seen what it does to the rotor coating!

I think for now the HEX and spacer will do then maybe put the ice box in in the futture to have it running when waiting at the track

Ive done the icebox setup when i had a turbo. It worked awesome but didnt last long at all. Even with 10# of ice.


What worked best for me was to take the HX out of the system loop the heater hoses together at the water pump, route those lines that went to the HX to the heater core.
Running the AC in the summer it blows a lil cooler with the 200* coolant running thru the HVAC. And the 30-40* air from the AC blows over heater core and chills the air nice.
I saw IATs in the 50-60s when it was 100* ambient.

I have no dealing with a SC just with a turbo.
