The rod ratio for the 4.8L is perfect for boost. The High RPM and High Boosted Torque translates into serious HP.

Oh and Skinnies RX7 made 855rwhp/1145rwtq on 24lbs. It's a single billet Precison 78mm, bone stock bottom including rod bolts, ring gap, and oil pump, GT2-3 cam, springs, and pushrods. That's through a glide, a 9", and some massively heavy 33" x ?20"? x 15 wheels with DOT street tires. Easily over 1000bhp.

These motors are plain sickness. It makes me laugh when I see a multi thousand dollar engine running 11s/12s/13s etc (been there, LOL).

Makes perfect since. Cadillac did it with the 4.6 to a 4.4 for the sts v for that reason.. I want to do a 6.0 block with a 4.8 crank and really spin it..

Funny you mention that on the older junk you put a 350 crank into a 400 block and you got a 377. they rev...

Excellent write up thanks for sharing!

Was there a dyno graph by chance, I'd really like to see the TQ numbers and what rpm ranges they were working in. I'd like to see how much the shorter stroke would have on the low rpm torque production. I'm not a huge fan of high stalls, not what I'd like to drive daily.

Thanks again!
I have a 3200 stall converter with a 4.8 and it drives just fine daily
