UPDATE: the guy sold the LS6 cam so know I'm looking for a good cam that will work for me


what should i be looking for in a cam thats going to be in a turbo'd engine?


wanted to know what every one thinks about the Ls6 cam installed in a boosted LQ4? probalby only 10# of boost

I can get it really cheap so it fits my super small budget build but dont know if it a good idea?

The LS6 cam is well known for being a great budget cam especially for boost. It won't add a ton of power. Expect maybe 30ish rwhp. It is especially small for a 6.0 motor. If you plan on pulling the heads or working on the valve train then it is worth the time and effort. However, if you don't plan on opening the motor up then its probably not worth your time and you should wait for the cam swap until you can afford a better cam. Keep in mind the many things that must be replaced when you do any cam swap. It will add up quickly.

the heads need to be pulled the current ones have bad guides or seals I'm not sure witch is it so I'm picking up another set of 317's to have a 3 angle valve job, springs and if i can swing it some port work and since the heads are being pulled I wanted to do the cam at that time

probably do an oil pump, water pump since i'm there not real sure on what else

If you are already doing the head swap then by all means jump on the cam swap. I would recommend doing the lifters and pushrods as well. The trunion upgrade on the rockers would be wise as well.

i can get the cam, lifter and push rods all for under $100 all parts are out of a caddy and said to be in mint shape but does this cam play nice with boost?

As he said, yes it will. It will be very mild and fairly soft off the bottom with the procharger, but it will work really well once it hits its stride.

Yes it is quite possibly the most common budget boost cam. In other words yes it does very well with boost.

its actually a 117.5 LSA and a 120 ICL. In other words a 117.5 - 2.5. Its a dog off the bottom for such a small duration cam because of how retarded the intake valve events are to work well at high RPM and with the factory manifolds.

Bottom end power isnt a huge concern in a car as light as a vette
