4.8L 80mm Single Dirty Grandpa Truck Build
Figured I’d start a build thread. I’m about 3 weeks out from cranking it up. This project is 8 million years in the making. I’m a broke sob and I usually build stuff for other people lol.
Goodies:
Single Bullseye S480 Race cover w/87mm Turbine 1.25 a/r T4 – 4” out
2 – Turbosmart 45mm wastegates
1.5” & 2” Sch 10 SS turbo manifolds
2.5” SS crossover pipe
4” SS dp
4” mix and match material exhaust
3” Aluminum charge pipe
22.4x8x3 vertical flow custom intercooler
Turbosmart Raceport Bov
60 # injectors
HP tuners 3 bar tune
Other fun facts:
Stock 4.8L
Stock 4l60…… :/
Truetrac w/standard gear 342
DJM 4/6 drop
Coil relocation
External FPR w/stock lines/rails
Here are my goals:
1) Drive around truck with turbo on 7 psi and do burnouts. Hit the dyno. What will actually happen is that i turn it up to 15 psi and grenade my 4l60.
2) put on 4l80, turn up to 15psi. hit the dyno, go to track, see what it does and also do burnouts
3) build 5.3L on the side and put in truck. Crank up till i hit 1000 whp, go to track, run a 10.99 and also do burnouts.

planning on running 7psi off the spring for now. Need to get a 4l80 in it as soon as possible, which will probably be this fall knowing how my luck goes. I'll try to keep it from grenading the tranny. I'll probably run out of injector pretty quick too.
No idea on the power. Lots of guys running logs and stock manifolds so i'm not sure if i'll pick up anything with these things.
Thanks for the compliments!

straight out the driver side collector. I've got to 90 over to the passenger side right after the collector. That one will sit between the trans gear selector and the frame rail pointing down.
I've been hearing a lot about 2:1 and 3:1 back pressure over the years, so i'm trying to prioritize the wastegates. That flew out the window on the passenger side, so hopefully having the second gate with good placement will help.
I'm not recirculating either of them. driver side won't get a dump tube. Passenger side is getting a 2 or 2.25" dump. haven't made up my mind yet.
