Default 2300 blower: front drive or rear drive (jackshaft)???

Assuming you don't have fitment issues and both blowers are available what is the advantage of one over the other?

It's pretty common sense (to me anyway) that the jackshaft rear drive is better from stand point of trying to spin max rpm as you can use cog pulleys on the rear with an overdriven pulley config. So I assume you can reach max blower speed on the rear drive with a larger pulley on the front.......right???

Is there anything thing else I am missing? Do they both flow the same air? What is the price difference?

I may have a project coming up that will be going this route.

My next set of questions will probably be 2300 vs. Whipple.........but I'm sure I can do some searching/reading on the matter before I ask......

Many claim the straight shot the air takes toward the rotors on the front inlet (jack shaft) helps it breathe better as well. It's more money for sure. I don't know the exact difference.

I could see wanting a front inlet jackshaft blower. More options for the future. I know the some of the benefit must be lost in the shape the intake tube has to be though. Still, I would prefer it if given the option.

Yea the intake tube has to make a fairly sharp turn. I did fit a 5" intake tube though... So how bad could it really be? Down the road I will design a dual 4" intake with a filter behind both headlights.

2.9, 3.4, 4.0 Whipple. Only debate you should be having is which one to pick.

As I'm doing a little searching.......you seem to have a point. Is there anything the various 2300's do that the whipple's won't do?

...also it seems that there are several different companies that put their name on the 2300 blowers. Are they all the same or is there some differences making one company better than the other?

The rotor pack is made by eaton, but the manifolds are particular to the company. Obviously the rotors and inner case are the important thing, so theres not really a ton of difference with them.

2.3L blower is just small...gonna have to spin it hard to get good boost out of it on a larger motor, and by that point its sucking a lot of power to turn. What size engine are you putting this on?

Yea the manifolds are the only real differences. In some instances they are very different.

The larger whipples can be harder to fit in a truck, but its been done. It's hard not to be tempted by them. The 2.9 whipple has its advantages over a 2300 TVS, but as far as a bolt on 2.3 is concerned I wouldnt be in a rush to grab a whipple over a TVS. There are die hards on both sides who will tell you one is better than the other. I happen to think the TVS is slightly more capable than the 2.3 whipple is.

Maybe we can convince Atomic he needs one...
