I better watch out then, as I have the factory driveshaft still.

This is for Aluminum driveshafts, it's why the speed limiters are 98mph.

Steel driveshafts can stand up to a lot more speed but it wouldn't hurt to high speed balance a steel driveshaft.

Mine was a steel driveshaft, I would not trust another factory one.

I wasn't anywhere near the truck when it happened. I dropped it off and left, got a call 35-40 minutes later. It made 329 rwhp and 343 TQ before the driveshaft exploded. He said that there is more left in it, it needs more fuel up top still.

Now... what to do for a driveshaft? I have another stock one to put back in it and see if the transmission and rear differential are OK. But I need to get something much stronger and rated for higher speeds. Suggestions?

Any specific vendors that won't charge an arm and a leg? There's a shop semi local to me, they supposedly build shafts for mud trucks and drag cars.

I called after I posted, they said that they will start with a new tube. Said that they could warranty it up to 1000 HP. I am going to look into it further try to get feedback from people that used them on the local boards.

Driveshaft specialists out of San Antonio set me up right. Great group of folks to deal with and their product is top notch.
