we turned it to 6500 but surprisingly it made its power and torque where you see it on the dyno sheet.

Torque is barely barely starting to decrease. That thing would LOVE another 500 rpm minimum. I bet if you kept on spinning it until it stops making more power you'd see 675 hp at least. It's still climbing fast. The LS6 cam has a really late intake close and a really early exhaust open... That's why it has the manners of a small cam but on a dyno the graph tends to look like a much larger cam. I have one in a DD 6.0. In my eyes it makes mediocre power but it holds it forever!!

Do yourself a favor and give it a little more next time. I promise you don't be disappointed. That 4.8 loves rpm with the shorter stroke.

It may no longer be a "true" 454 SS but that 4.8 sure as hell makes more power than any 454 gm ever made lol.

ive caught a ton of mouth from people saying i ruined the truck.....then after a few minutes they are all very interested in hearing what all i did to swap it and it all seems to be cool to them then..haha

i really have debated on taking my 454ss stickers off the side of it. i just cant bring myself to do it as of yet. i just finished tearing the truck all apart and painting it last winter and put all new decals on it at that time. it sure does look nice with them. im changing the exhaust in a couple weeks and going all the way out the rear of the truck with it, so it will sound like an old stock motor then and nobody will be the wiser
