who will be the first fullsize to try it??? shackle elimination
i got my leaf spring sliders in today. tons of old school and s10 guys run them to eliminate spring binding and promote free movement of a leaf spring. especially on a cal-trac setup. some guys report over a tenth reduction in 60' time. there are theories of how a leaf spring moves along an arch with a shackle instead of a smoothe line like the would with a slider. anyways here is what showed up tonight. my resoning for using a slider was to lower my rear end another inch without the use of a drop block. if it gets me close to my goal of a 1.3x 60' with my s10 its just icing on the cake

it's my first go round with these things. they arent top of the line bearings, but then again we're not offroading or going under water. no need for sealed bearings or anything crazy. not sure how the weight of a full size would work with the bearings. also not sure if they will need to be modified to work with chevy sprins. i will be running the calvert split mono springs that have a different style eye that should mate up perfect to these spring rollers.
seems like a lot of leaf sprung drag racing tricks originated from dirt track. all i know is if i knew about these things when i had the silverado, i would have tried them in a heart beat! with a good set of double adjustable shocks there is no way that a setup like this wouldnt be better.
