Default What traction bars are these?

Hey guys, my little brother is out here in NC for 2 weeks from Kansas. He just bought a 04 Silverado SS. The truck was bone stock, stock exhaust everything except for a 2/4 drop. We got it tuned, cai, exhaust, then I decided i wanted to inspect everything on it, remove wheels, see what drop kit, etc, and found these on it? Why would a AWD truck need these and Im not sure if this was a kit or what. Thanks for the help. heres a pic of the truck and the bars.

the front pivot point is hooked to the hangar right above the leaf. It was just weird i guess seeing these on it, and everything stock, if they once had it modded, they did a good job putting it back. Usually I see the bars underneath, not above the leafs, thought that was weird too. Thanks

Obviously home made. Personally, I would remove those ASAP as it appears it could cause the spring to bind on compression.
