Default Heater Core...........

Hey guys- have a buddy with a Ranger and the heat doesn't work. First thing comes to my mind is heater core plugged up, but is there an actuator to direct coolant to the heater core that could be malfunctioning?
THanks

If its anything like the silverados (and most cars that I know of), coolant is always being pushed through the heater core, but there is an actuated door in the dash unit to direct the airflow either through the heater core or through the evaporator core (AC).

My first thought was its a Ford... It can't be fixed...

They even circled the problem and put it on the front grille so you are aware when opening the hood...

Seriously though, if it's an older ranger, Look under the hood and see if it has a recirculation valve on one of the coolant lines going back to the cab through the fire wall.

If that's not it, then it's like Atomic stated above.

Check the vacuum line going to the coolant valve in the heater hose they like to corrode away and not pull vacuum anymore...

Thanks guys- it's a '94 with a 4 banger. I'm looking to the blend door now as he said that someone like closed some wires every winter; I'm gonna actually see and get to the truck today. Anyways- where would this blend door be located?
