Manual Trans 4x4 Launch
I may be going to the drag strip for the first time in my truck. And since I recently brought my back down to earth and fixed my CV angles I would like to run it in 4x4. So my question is how would you guys do it?
Its rolling on some oldish firestone ATs and spins badly in 2wd that its not even worth trying to go fast in 2wd. I would like to not break anything but I would also really like to be able to launch hard and shoot out of the hole!
Here is my options as I see them.
A) Rev to 6k or so and dump the clutch while in 4x4 (What I really want to do)
B) Dont rev very high but smash it once it gets moving (kinda fun I guess)
C) Take it kinda easy and slowly get into the throttle (Boring way)

I feel like i would leave somewhere around 3500-4000 and slip the clutch just a little bit.
I know it's not the same, but the 5speed in my s10 hates when I rev it up and dump the clutch. Not to mention if I don't spin, it shutters bad and next thing I know I gotta shift. It seems to move out much better when I rev it half way and slip the clutch just a hair as I mash the gas. Again, this is 2wd and 2.2L lol.

Oh man a 2.2 S10! I had one in high school dang that motor has nothing! I mean absolutely no guts at least mine didn't. I couldn't get more then a dolphin squeal from the tires any time I tried. Mine would also shutter real bad on "launches"

I ran 4 times in 4x4 best at 10.4. It launched great I just dumped the clutch right at the limiter, it didnt spin at all and didnt feel like it bogged. My extreme downfall was trying to get the in gear. Second wasnt to bad but still took Around .25-.4 second and third was just aweful! First 2 runs I couldnt even get into third until past the line because it just wouldnt go in. It didnt grind or anything but wouldnt get into gear. Third run(fastest) I never left second and ran it all the way to the limiter which was around 61mph but topped out 100ft or so before the end. Then the last run Second grinded really bad and third actually went in decently but I had to double pump the clutch to get it in.
I think the synchros are going out in the nv3500 its got just over 100k but when I changed fluids there was a large amount of metal that came out and it whines allmost all the time so somthing is about ready to give up.
With a better trans (I want a ZF6) and maybe a short throw shifter I think I could come down a full second or so easily.
