ok guy just got my first cummins....
i just picked up me a new towing rig for the old race car.... but now i want to make it a decent running street diesel.... ok what i got is a 01 2500 single cab automatic... im looking to hop it up a little... no race truck... i was thinking around 400hp so basically good programmer, 4" exhaust, maybe a turbo upgrade... what do u guys think???

Welcome to club.. I just purchased one as well.. From what Ive read Smarty is programmer of choice by most Cummins' owners..

You wont be able to do to much without upgrading the tranny.. You could look at bigger injectors...
I am sure some others will chime in and give you some better info..

now 1st thing I would do with your truck is get a fuel pressure gauge to make sure you lift pump doesnt crap out...very common with these truck...your vp44 injection pump will take a ******* if it doesnt have enough fuel going to it and then its big $...then i would get prolly and edge or something like that and upgrade the lift pump to a FASS, beef the trans and be done with it...but i guess it depends on how far you wanna take it...

You should be able to make it run decent without having to upgrade your turbo. Like ridnlow said, i would go with the smarty also, and get a few gauges to monitor everything like fuel pressure and EGT's.
