This might be his first build

That's sweet. When I had my 97, I wanted to do a phantom. I wish I had it back sometimes.

If it is a 4x4, I have seen people run the hummer bead lock wheels. Just about the only way to get them on a street truck. The additional spacing lets the wheel clear the brakes. And the military hummer tires are a dime a dozen.

I like the looks personally, but I am "that wierd guy over there"

I was going to do the same to my '95 crew cab....

Truck bed dually D80's are about 2 inches wider than single wheel trucks. The cab and chassis axles are several inches shorter.

Front adapters can simply be unbolted. New wheels are needed, obviously.

Bed is completely hacked from the dual fenders... you are right that you will need a bed.

Now, with that said, I have seen dually trucks converted so SRW using the dually axle (just cut the studs down) and you really had to look to notice the wider than usual rear end. Most wouldn't notice.

Good luck.

Should be a matter of swapping wheels, removing front spacer, swapping front spacer studs to wheel studs, and if the dually fenders dont unbolt, repacing the bed or bedsides.... Supersingles are cool but expensive, and if you dint like the looks of the dually bed, then defeats purpose!!!
