Default my '72 SWB L33/4L60e

just found out about this forum but ive had a running thread on 67-72chevytrucks.com so im just going to start with what ive done since I picked up the truck in November...

72 c10
l33/4l60e

I hopped a flight to Oklahoma and drove back to SoCal without any issues but plenty of time to compile a list of stuff I needed to address...
(15XX miles in 21 hours BTW)

plan originally was to ditch the 18's and go with some 17" torque thrusts with tall tires out back and then maybe re-address the ride height. but these 18's are growing on me so we'll see...

currently 5" in the rear and 4.5" up front.

it had slightly sloppy steering so I changed out the steering intermediate shaft for a nice u-joint version.

the previous owner "changed the rear brakes" but never adjusted the shoes properly so the wheel cylinders started to seep and ruined the shoes on one side so im going to replace both wheel cylinders and shoes.

so once I cracked open the rear end I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the open diff was completely smoked.

I don't even know how it held together on my trip home. kinda scary.
sucks that I had to shell out cash I wasn't expecting to but at least its only the diff and not the entire housing etc etc.

I decided to go with an Eaton limited slip that is currently in route.
im going to do the diff swap, diff seals, axle seals, wheel cylinders and brake shoes all at once.
hope to have it buttoned up by the weekend.

I also decided to pep up the gear ratio from 3.08 to 3.42.

it will hurt fuel mileage slightly but once I ditch the 18" wheels (current tire diameter is 28.5") and go to a 17" setup (which will have a tire diameter of 30") it shouldn't be too bad.

so while im waiting for the rear end parts to arrive im going to continue to pick away at the list of little stuff I want to do.

*continuing with the long winded post*

I took off the old 13" billet steering wheel it came with and bought another 15" comfort grip steering wheel I noticed that the previous owner for some reason ditched the column spring and signal cancel cam/horn conductor.

so I sourced both of these little jerks

in addition to that he wired the horn to a separate switch under the dash...!??!?!?!
so ill wire it back up the column.

I also ordered a few firewall boots that were missing and letting TONS of cold air into the cab

one for the brake rod

and one for the steering column

there is also a hole in the dash where the cigarette lighter went and it bothered me so I ordered one of those too...

ill *hopefully* get around to changing out the passenger window regulator that gets really difficult halfway down.

I already bought the part just need to find the time. I keep putting it off since its not that important...

I picked up these CPP sway bars from summit

turns out i only took a few of the sway bars but the install was pretty straight forward. the front you have to drill out 2 rivets and everything else bolts up. the rear you have to drill 6 holes. 2 in the frame and 4 in the trailing arms.

i also fixed the sloppy drivers side door seal which would let some air in the cab at highway speed and then gave the interior a good cleaning before adding a few essential touches

i ordered (what is hopefully) my last batch of stuff for a while

10" flat powered sub for underseat mounting

tach signal converter

billet radio bezel to cover up the less than clean looking cut when someone installed the aftermarket headunit

new ignition bezel

3 point seat belts

shift indicator (the white part)

http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/images/g/jCcAAOSwEetV~EOM/s-l225.jpg[/img]

emergency brake handle

black gas tank carpet

door sill plates

also bought a voltmeter from a box chevy for my cluster so I can ditch the ammeter gauge that's in there now.

installed the new seat belts, ignition bezel, ebrake handle, shift indicator, door sills, gas tank carpet, Dakota Digital tach signal converter and the under-seat subwoofer
oh and i put on the bump stops for the rear axle

a pic someone took of my truck at the pelican parts cars and coffee last weekend

also last week I did an oil/filter change a replaced a few rubber grommets that were missing on the door frame and letting some cold air into the cab at highway speeds

currently on my list of stuff to do is:

rear diff fluid change
cab mounts
voltmeter conversion
billet radio plate
windshield washer pump
fix the rear bumper sag
drop the gas tank and trace down why the gauge isn't working

once I get all this stuff sorted out ill start to plan out the next phase...
the big question...n/a or boost

Looks awesome man! I need to get some more progress done on my 69 c10. I do have a turbo kit for them now. You'll have to do something with the AC condenser and stuff to fit the intercooler though. But the hot side will bolt right up!

There is other options for intercooling and keeping that stuff in place. Just hit me up if you ever want to turbo it and I'll work something up for you!

Truck looks great, I even like the wheels. I am a very partial to these trucks, my father has had several over the years. We're finishing up this one currently...

Beautiful truck, and yes I am partial to them as well. I do like the wheels.
I am over on the 67-72 message board as well.
