Default All new setup for my 454

Well i bought a fresh .040 over 454 with stock crank and rods with 9 to 1 speed pro pistons cheap from a guy near Philli so from there I got a set of pro comp allum. Heads and a new cam.Next step was to lighten up my 1990 C1500 454 somemore.I removed the front swaybar, front seat, installed a lexan windshield and race seat and mounted the batt. In the body, next I installed C.E. drag shocks front and back and relocated the pass rear shock mount to the rear of the truck to match the drivers side.all in all I hope for 3600 with me a 275 lb driver and 11.50's or more on motor. It shouldn't be a problem but until you do it you didn't do it.lol
Heads will be here friday and I should be at the track next weekend.I'll keep you guys posted.

cant wait to see the results from your new setup. just becareful with those pro comp heads.....i bought an assembled set for my first motor in my 90' 454ss aswell and less than 2000 miles i had a couple valves break and busted the block, cam got tore up, ruined one head and exploded 2 pistons.

i bought a new bare head to replace the busted one and had all new 225/188 valves, new springs, retainers and locks installed and dropped them on a new 461 and havent had any problems since.

there has been several guys near me have valves to break in the pro comp heads so just becareful. they all but look like a chalky white powdered material when you are inspecting whats left of the broken ones...haha

at that time it was a 461 bottom end, those pro comp heads, comp cam 547/547 with a victor jr intake and pro system carb, longtubes, 3" exhaust, 700r4 with a tci streetfighter converter, 3.73 gear and 275 drag radials. it made 412rwhp/501rwtq and ran a best of 7.83@90mph and weighed in at 4370 with me in it.

edit... the only thing i have reduced weight on the truck is i took off the rear bumper and brackets, added a rear roll pan and the aluminum heads. ol truck dont run bad for what throwed together junk that it is...haha
