Well time is a more limiting factor than budget. I am only home here and there and often gone for 8 months at a time. I have 5 inches clearance front and rear between tire and fender. Tires stick out past the fenders so if I drop more than 5" I will be rolling fenders or something. I am thinking when I convert the rear to disc that is should suck the rim in that 3/4" to allow me to flip the axle like I want to. But worst case I could go as low as 3/4 and be happy.
I have seen a 70ish truck with hotchkis' trailing arm suspension and that thing handled like a corvette

Ok. I should preface this negativity by saying I like your build. Love autox and love old chevy's. That being said. This seems a little bit like trying to put a gooseneck ball into the roof of a smart car and wondering what mods are required to compete in a tractor pull.

Google "make it handle". This is catching on strong. Guess you should bring your smart car out to the tractor pulls! See u there!

So i just got back from RIMPAC and started getting some parts together. I have some valve train noise that i am not happy with while idling

So i ordered some parts.
LS2 Timing Chain
LS6 Valve Springs
LS6 Cam
LS6 oil pump
innovate MTX-L wideband
Hp Tuners
corvette servo
And some others i can remember

Not looking to go crazy but i feel that this should be a nice little little boost in the power band for my projects goals. i plan to get most everything in the valvetrain cryo treated since i will be driving this in higher rpms a lot. this build will be slow as i am gone a lot for work, but in between the family and work i will get some pictures in there for you guys.

Well i just got back a couple weeks ago and am fixing to head out again in a couple weeks. Thought i would get a little more done on the truck. Got the ls6 cam and my related parts. The LS6 has a .050 smaller base circle so i figure i will need a .025 longer pushrod. I was going to get the heads checked out anyways while i had them off so i am going to get the heads milled .025 to keep from having to buy new pushrods. I will get the pushrods cryo treated to ensure they are strong enough.
In between work and the kids i managed to get out and get the motor torn down. Here is some pics for you picture guys. Gotta find a 3 jaw puller for the balancer. i am still rocking my Gen 1 tools so my balancer puller is a bolt on. gotta get with the times. it seems that i am buying a whole new tool set with this motor....

Subscribed.

I just picked up a 85 c10 and a 4.8/4l60e. I'm looking to doing some autocross, 1/4 mile, etc with the truck. Im trying to do everything on a budget as possible. Meaning that I want to put all of the money into the drivetrain/suspension and ignore the rust and cosmetics for now. Also, im interested in the corvette dash conversion you mentioned. Do you have any pics of that so far?

Keep us updated!

I am at work but i can get some pics up whe i get home. I cut the metal dash out and put the digtal dash in its place. Pretty easy i have a wiring diagram somewhere i can post up. I had my battery cutout on when i was adding my tach and wideband in and a 12v line grounded out to the digital dash and a lot of smoke came out......so now i am running a 98 z28 cluster all electric with a 150mph speedo. Good luck. Hope to see you out on an autox track

Got the cam installed and i am running very good oil pressure and only minimal valve train noise from the stiffer springs. i am pretty happy. Of course once i took it around the block, the guy called and said he is ready to cryo my pushrods. So i get to take that back apart and have them done. I cant wait to install the cryod pushrods and bump the shift points up to about 62-6300. it already pull like crazy i cant wait to get it to spin a little higher.
I have to tackle my fuel fill door now so off are the fenders. i never knew they were seam sealed on from the factory. that was fun to get off!! I am swapping the fuel fill door to the drivers side and the fuel fill to the rear of the truck since i have the blazer tank.
Next up is a new bed floor from a fleet side. ( metal bed wont rot like my wood bed did) and some rhino liner to add a little weight in the back and give it some strength.
