1987 C10/R10 305 TBI to 350 carb
Here's the question, I have a 1987 Chevy R10, it has the 305ci TBI motor in it now, which is going to be retired, I recently bought a 350ci motor out of a 1986 Chevrolet Van that is carburated, now, this is my first ever motor swap, and I want to do it right. Here are some questions I have.
1. Can I use the intake manifold and TBI off of the 305ci motor And just plop it on the 350ci motor and call her good? and can you please explain why or why not.
2. The 350ci motor I bought has a weighted flex wheel, which comes to make me believe it is truly a 383ci stroker, but, there are places who say that the 86 350ci has a weighted flex wheel regardless, that it is not internally weighted, unlike some other motors which are.
3. The fuel delivery system? What needs to be updated and changed?
4. Should I just use a carb? What will happen with the computer if I do that.
5. If I buy a new TBI intake and such, what all needs to be done?
6. What is all interchangeable from the 305ci motor to the 350ci motor, I do understand they are the same block.
7. What is everything I need to do to get the New motor in my truck and drivable, I have the turbo 350 transmission btw.

You can technically use the intake and tbi from the 305, but I believe the 305 has smaller injectors as opposed to the 350. There were 4 or 5 different size injectors for those tbi's. IMO don't use a carb, you can work with the tbi just as well. The stock fuel pump will suffice unless you want to do some performance mods, in which case a tpi fuel pump should fit right in the stock bucket. Several guys in 88-98 trucks are using them on full size chevy.
