Pork Rub Recipe Suggestions?
I'm smoking a Boston Butt this weekend and want to just use a dry rub (instead of brine & rub). Most likely method of prep will be coating the butt with yellow mustard and applying rub about 12 hours before cooking begins. I like to hit it with apple cider vinegar every 2 hours or so when cooking. Here's where I need some help-I need a rub recipe. I've been looking at recipes on line tonight, but I want to see what you guys are using or just a rub you like.

Here is one that I started out with years ago.
3 tablespoons granulated garlic
3 tablespoons paprika
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons salt
1 tablespoon black pepper
2 teaspoons ground sage
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Depending on what temps you cook at be very careful with sugar because it will burn. In some cases substituting turbinado sugar is a good substitute to avoid burning. Also known as sugar in the raw. I have a few others that I like to use but due to an agreement with the original maker I can not repost them. Jeffs naked rib rub and Wolfe rubs are two that I purchased on line for like $20! They can be found here for a small donation.
