Default Need Complete Info On 4.8

Im trying to get the complete rundown on the 2003 4.8

Im trying to find out if its a 2 bolt main or a 4 bolt?

How much power can the stock engine, and tranny take on a 03 Silverado RCSB?

How much boast from a S/C can the engine take without blowing up in my face?

Whats the intake port and exhuast port sizes?

Are the piston forged?

All the info will be helpfull.

I know it doesnt make that much power but im sure that it can if its done right.

the answers in the order that the questions were asked:

6 bolt cross-bolted mains

500-600hp on stock internals, with correct tuning and proper fuel delivery.....making that kind of power with a 4.8 is gonna be the hard part !!, the tranny will die at about the 400hp/450tq level though so a tranny upgrade is pretty much a requirement

9-11 psi depending on tuning...maybe more if you REALLY know what you are doing and have enough fuel

no idea on the I/E port sizes.....sorry

cast pistons...

good luck......

The 4.8 is a great motor! I have seen supercharged 4.8's making in the 400+ rwhp range!

Good Luck!

No believe it. There is a guy here I met at the track with 4.8 who runs low 13s at my elevation. That is about 400rwhp to get our trucks to that elevation. He has nothing on his but headers, and a true duel exhaust system. He said that he's got 10.5 lbs of boost out of his intercooled procharger. He also stated that SilverState Performance tuned it for him. That is the same company I was going to use!
