Has anyone removed the lower door edge moulding or trim. I really want it gone, but not ready to paint the truck if it turns into a mess.

Thanks Scott

You can usea heat gun but be careful, i always pull mine off and you always end up with that double sided tape still on the truck. Get the big thick welding/cutting glove put it on and start rubbing.I use acetone to get sticker residue off, then wax it.

Make sure you clean the truck after your done.

All I did was pull it off and then use some decal remover from Auto Zone to get the double sided tape off. Sounds like everyone else had a more sophisticated idea but mine seemed to work fine.

Ya, on some of the lager parts I could just pull off once I got them started.

I've been wanting to do this for a while now, but not sure if I should since my truck is about 3 years old now. Do you think the colors would be different if I pulled off the molding now?

If you are in no rush wait for a hot day (in the 90's) leave the truck in the sun thats what I did and they vame right off. There was a little sticky residue in some locations I removed that with WD-40. It was an easy job <img border="0" alt="[USA]" title="" src="graemlins/patriot.gif" /> .

Yep sunlight works wonders. My truck is a 99 model I removed just 2 months ago and had no noticable color difference ( trim area was silver ). I also had to use acetone on one area of tape that refused to let go. Make sure to wash and wax area ASAP.
FYI, I installed the trim from the Sierra model ( nice all chrome pieces ) that looks awesome compared to Chevy parts.
