Default stock mirrors

now that you guys have informed me of how to remove them (quite easy), i'm hoping somebody knows how to take them apart. or should i just tape over the mirror and hope the paint doesn't peel from the cracks where the mirror folds?

bump, I would like to know too. I could not get them apart when I got the covers done, so we taped around them, but I can see how it could cause probs around where they fold. I tried to get the glass out, there is a round thing in the middle behind the glass with about 10 to 15 clips holding the glass in. I could not get it out because there was not enough room, there must be some special tool or something. Hopefully someone else here might know how to do it.

A friend of mine had his painted and they just masked his chrome piece off. I don't think that they disassembled the mirrors, but I'll ask him and find out.

well we're goin to try to paint the entire mirror, not just the chrome pieces. so i need to find a way to get the seams by the folds painted too (or else the paint will crack and peel off in no time).

I originally painted my factory mirrors and i took them apart. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> But that has been so long ago I can't remember how i did it.I have still got them,I have street scene mirrors on now and i would sell the factory ones. They are electric and red,all but the chrome on them.So if anyone wants red mirrors get back to me.

i just left mine together, taped off the mirror and sprayed em down. they came out pretty good. the entire mirror is pewter, even what was previously chrome. zerog10201 also painted his all yellow. the look good. and a lot cheaper that SS mirrors.

we're gunna try to get a website and some pics together soon as he gets his digital camera working again.
