I recommend one of our sponsors...BlackBear, Wheatley, Nelson...they all have stellar reputations. I'm currently running a PCMforLess tune, but will be getting a BlackBear tune when I swap my trans

Many choices for CAI's, and they all do pretty much the same thing, you can even make your own with some silicone couplers, 4" round PVC pipe, a drop in air filter, and some modding to the stock airbox (cut big hole(s) in the bottom of it to allow for more air flow. If you check ebay you can find kits that have the heat shield and filter for less than $50 I believe, then there's the AirRaid or AirRaid Jr that includes a drop in filter and intake tube, or you can spend more and get something like the K&N FIPK, or Volant with optional ram air tube.

Now, companies like AEM and Amsoil are offering dry filters, which I personally prefer since there's no chance of oil ever coating the MAF and causing problems, and the dry filters seem to filter smaller particles, yet flow almost as good as the oiled filters. I have the Volant with ram air tube, which I added an Amsoil dry filter to...I'm very happy with quality and asthetics of the CAI, but it is a bit pricey, especially considering the minimal gains associated with these trucks and air intake upgrades.

As for headers, you will see very little gains from shorties and noticeable gains from long tubes, but if you're in CA or you're dead set on shorties, I have a set of used stainless Gibson shorties for sale (haven't taken pics or started a thread in the classifieds yet). They were over $500 when I bought them back in 01, I'm looking to get $200 + shipping for them

Yep But the tune thing kinda scares me haha. is there a mode that can goback to stock? With new long tube headers or intake do you need a tune. thanks

Don't be scared of the tune, the professional tuners (such as our sponsors) know what they're doing, plus they can tailor the tune to your needs, even keeping it on the milder side if you'd like. Don't think that there's a "back to stock" mode, but I *believe* that the PCM can be tuned so that your tow/haul button is your "race" mode, that has a more aggressive tune. Another option is to get a backup PCM, so you have one that's tuned and one that's stock.

You can install long tubes and an intake without tuning, as long as you don't delete the cats or rear O2's which will trip a check engine light. Of course, if you want to optimize those mods, tuning is the way to go.
