first and second gear pull ok but third gear is dead what should i do?

 

put in a 5.3 or 6.0

Probably gonna want some 4.88 gears or so.

 

v8 and t56 swap IMO.

well got a part time job and dont make much would a tune help that at all

 

not if the synchros are screwed. You can probably limp it around for a little while, but just be aware you are on borrowed time. One of our old work trucks limped around on 124 for almost a year before it gave out all together.

 

o well might get some headers but i cant afford a new motor yet might get one for graduation

 

start looking around for a used tranny, spending money on "extras" is kind of pointless if your truck is broken. Manual tranny swaps aren't that hard, even in a driveway...ask me how I know

 

well wait.. Is it the transmission that is your problem or are you saying it just feels like a wimp in 3rd?

Tuning on a manual 4.3 is no bueno.


Stating gears means it just feels weak. That has nothing to do with the trans going out is why i ask.

 

i think what he means is 3rd gear is just like hitting a brick wall...nothing is broke he is just asking if a tune would help the 3rd pull good...

 

Thats what I thought too but Boss has me wondering.
If that's the case some 4.88's or more would help but really a v8 t56 would be best.
