Default New Alternator

After 197,914 miles, my alternator took a crap. Started it up Friday morning and I noticed the dash lights were dim, then I noticed the battery light did not go off. So be it, the Camaro had a full tank of gas, so I drove it to work.

So now I am back in business with a 130-amp alternator (the OTHER alternator from 2002).

Didn't even need a longer belt, but it does fill up the engine cover space a little more.:

105 amp
130 amp

Nice. You're engine bay is really clean. But is that a 6.0?

Just wash and dry it every now and then.

Very clean engine bay!

I had an alternator go out last month and went to the local OReilly's to pick up another 145amp unit. Mine originally came with a 130amp model and I couldn't remember off hand at the moment what year model I got the 145amp from, so I had them look it up and to my surprise they listed one part to cover the 130 thru 150amp vehicles. I guess it's easier for them to carry one part than three. Whatever the case, I lucked out and got a 150amp model and to make things better they found where I had originally purchased the 145amp four years ago and warrantee’d it out as it had a lifetime warrantee.

Man, your engine bay's clean. I swapped to a different size belt when I swapped out my 105 amp alt for a 145 amp alt, but that was mainly because I was given the info on what belt to use, including a part number. I'm pretty sure that my original belt would have worked, it just would have been a little bit tighter than it was with the 105 amp alt. It's a nice easy upgrade though, especially if you needed to change the alt anyway
