Exclamation Help make it STOP

alright my s10 has had this squeal for over a year and nobody has figured it out. I know its something with the accesory drive cause with the belt off its gone. Ive replaced the tensioner, idler pulley, alt, water pump, and a/c compressor. also Ive put numerous belts on it. it keeps stretching them out. its a constant squeal until either water, or wd40 hits the belt then it completely goes away until it has slung it off and continues to squeal. its very embarrassing and I need it gone before i shoot this thing.

could it by chance be the harmonic balance cracked or wore out?? the truck does idle a little rough as if the motor mounts are bad. new mounts though. help me out if you can guys thanks.

The only thing that I didn't see on that list is the power steering pump. Make sure that all of the pulleys are lined up and none of your accessories are crooked for one reason or another. The rubber in the balancer could be cracked and worn out, but I'd think that you'd get a knocking noise as well as be able to see the balancer moving around. I've read of power steering pumps breaking at the shaft, but that was on the newer full size trucks.

the only thing ive noticed is maybe the power steering pulley is ever so slightly in towards the motor farther than the rest of them. im going to try to pull it out a little and see if that helps.

I've been having similar issues since I went to my 8 rib set-up. Changed the belt last nite and prob solved...noticed the idlers dont have the belt centered so played around with spacers...next thing u know my new $50 belt gets shredded!

problem is solved!!!! the power steering pulley was pushed in too far. I pulled the pulley out to make it flush with the snout on the pump and squeal is gone.
