View Full Version : Tuning for an 03 dodge ram GmcVho 04-23-2009, 10:43 PM Ok I'm checking for my girl's brother, trying to find out who tunes dodges. skolman91 04-25-2009, 03:29 PM nobody does custom tuning for 03's, only 04 up unless u want to trick the computer in what its seeing by using a psc-1. so with that said all there is and ever gonna be for 03s is simple handhelds, like bully, diablo, hypertech, superchips. Ive had two out of those four and i would recommend superchips from what ive herd.. FrostKing 04-25-2009, 05:03 PM CMR can do custom tuning on the '03s, but is missing several major features such as raised idle / speed limit and all transmission functions. There is more missing as well. The basics of timing and fuel is good to go, apparently. I am waiting on delivery of my iEMS3 which is a 8-channel piggyback with many unique feature. This is more aimed toward forced-induction, though. GmcVho 04-26-2009, 08:12 PM Yeah that sucks, I use hp tuners on my truck. I just wish they made real shit for that year of dodge and not just canned tunes. Mike@Diablosport 08-05-2009, 11:25 AM Yeah that sucks, I use hp tuners on my truck. But on another note, Edge is pretty good on them as well. Probably next best thing besides the smarty for the 5.9 Mike@Diablosport 08-05-2009, 01:53 PM On a cummins Go Smarty! best tuning out there for the common rail! Probably next best thing besides the smarty for the 5.9Wow, my first day here as a sponsor and I feel like I already have an arch rival, cool. I am guessing you don't like DiabloSport products, or do you just like anything but our products, and want to let everyone know? For what its worth, we are the only people in the market that offer custom tuning at all for 03 Rams, so there is not much of a choice here for now... As for your Smarty comment, well, we have some pretty killer Cummins tunes as well, maybe you should line one up against a Smarty one day and see how it pans out.... Thanks Mike skolman91 08-05-2009, 04:48 PM Wow, my first day here as a sponsor and I feel like I already have an arch rival, cool. Thanks Mike yea nothing against your product or you but your not gonna get much love around here, diablo has done great things for the dodge community from a tuning standpoint. guess i got out of my 03 a little too soon, when did u start supporting 03s fully?? Thanks Mike nothing was aimed at you....i think you took it personal for some reason. I have too many friends with diesels and i know a darn good bit about them and what upgrades work best. All the cummins guy's run Smarty's with the new programs. Many of them have tried many setups and they all go back to the Smarty. NOT SAYING the rest are junk, its just the Smarty is proven and lays down some serious power. Why would I not get much love around here? Maybe you guys are not aware of how many Predators we sell. I can assure you there are more Predator tuned trucks running around this world than HPt or EFI live tuned trucks, so we get lots of love... As for 03 tuning, we have had custom tuning available for the 03-08 HEMI Rams for 6-8 months now. I wanted him to go with diablo( I loved my diablo when I had it) but instead he went with hyper crap and just wasted his money. You can't even change shift points or remove speed limiter on it. FrostKing 08-07-2009, 07:55 PM Hey Mike, it's good to have you here. I have a few questions if you don't mind on tuning the '03 trucks. As I understand the 2003 models do not have rev limit adjustment or any transmission / speed limit adjustments. I believe tire size is also out of the question. Can you give me details on the differences between the '03 tuning capabilities and the same on newer models. On my turbo '03 Hemi I would like to have full adjustment of the timing curves, MAP sensor, fuel injector size scaling, rear O2 sensor control. Most definitely RPM and speed limit increases. Thanks for your time. spark plug 08-09-2009, 07:21 PM i have an 03 as well. and i wouldn't call it full custom tuning. with the diablo, i can't adjust rev or speed limiters, no trans control, or idle. at least with my superchip it got rid of the limiters. i was told when i bought my diablo back in jan that they were going to be coming out with an update to support the 03s. but from what ive read on diablo's sight and heard from alot of people that update has never been released. glad to have some support on here for dodges from diablo. as far as performance i havent noticed any performance difference from going to the diablo. in fact i think it ran a lil slower due to no being able to shift higher. im going back to the dyno in 2 weeks. another local shop recently bought the dodge software from diablo. i'll find out then if it's really worth it or not. please continue to come out with stuff for the dodge products as we know it's needed. but you must understand why I personally don;t like diablo right now. i have spent more money, and now have less options and the same if not less power than i did with the superchip. so can u say if diablo will release the update for the 03? or is it not worth ya'll time? Spoolin 08-09-2009, 07:42 PM Damn, brutal. Why would I not get much love around here? Maybe you guys are not aware of how many Predators we sell. I can assure you there are more Predator tuned trucks running around this world than HPt or EFI live tuned trucks, so we get lots of love... Welcome!! However I would be shocked to find out there are more Predator tuned truck on here than HPT, EFI, or custom tuned trucks. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure there's a minority when it comes to the trucks on this site. slow n low 4.8 08-09-2009, 11:01 PM Spark plug maybe mike@diablo can help you,i hope I agree the superchips tuner felt stronger. I dont understand how you can get a diablo custom tune but its no better than a hand held generic tuner.Thats not to custom if u ask me. Spark plug had a 03 he wrecked with a superchips tuner that was 4 tenths faster than the 03 he has now on a diablo tune. All the same mods done to both trucks. Mike can you help him he hates getting beat by chevys! 06-crewhauler 08-10-2009, 12:24 AM mAn I miss my diablo hand held it's a good product I think my truck ran better and deffiently got better mpg then my tune fri np Mike@Diablosport 08-11-2009, 09:19 AM Hey Mike, it's good to have you here. On my turbo '03 Hemi I would like to have full adjustment of the timing curves, MAP sensor, fuel injector size scaling, rear O2 sensor control. Most definitely RPM and speed limit increases. Thanks for your time. The 03s have a seperate ETC module which has the rev limit stuff/speed limit stuff in it. We are still working on cracking that box in the 03s. TCM support for the 03-04s is also being developed currently, but it has not been an easy process. As for your requests, you'll have no problem having the MAP sensor scaled, the injectors scaled properly, full control of the timing tables, and the ability to disable the rear O2 sensor. RPM and speed limit increases will take a bit more time to get done. As I have mentioned it is going to happen, but it is hard to say exactly when. I will try to keep you posted. Thanks Mike redgsxr01 01-23-2010, 01:04 PM I'm in the market for a tuner but one of the most important features I'm looking for is the ability to turn off my EGR in order to use off-road LT's. Does the U7137: 2003-2008 Dodge Vehicles have this capability for the 05. Does the U7137: 2003-2008 Dodge Vehicles have this capability for the 05. This can be disabled through custom tuning, which would be a good idea with those longtubes anyhow... onebadbee24_7 02-06-2010, 11:46 PM have you guys fixed your corrupted crom file for the dodge yet that left my buddy stranded at mr norms shop? Mike@Diablosport 02-08-2010, 01:57 PM have you guys fixed your corrupted crom file for the dodge yet that left my buddy stranded at mr norms shop?Ummm...what? All the files on the web currently are fine, and I never heard anything from Mr Norms about any issues they had with any trucks. I'm sure they appreciate you looking into it for them though....? |
