Here's a riveting explanation as to why CEO's where getting Millions in bonuses while their company's lost money and laid off thousands of people.
http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com...ar.aspx?page=2
* Among all the Fortune 1,000 companies, nearly 400 CEOs got bonuses last year, taking home $402 million in annual bonus pay, according to Equilar, an executive compensation research firm. But that's only part of the picture; more bonus pay figures will roll in as additional companies file reports on 2008.
* These privileged CEOs got an additional $66 million in "discretionary" bonus pay. Annual bonuses are linked to some performance target, while boards can hand out discretionary bonuses for whatever reason they choose.
* These bonuses topped off already-large pay packages. CEOs at larger companies earned about $10 million on average last year, according to Equilar.
See the link for specific explanations.

I think as long as the companies finances are in order, and they take care of their stock holders, they should pay the CEO's whatever they want.
Now when companies are going out of business, or they don't pay stock dividends, that is not right.

I am not sure how it works but, some companies pay bonuses to avoid getting taxed even more.I would'nt be surprised if some of that money got filtered back in to the companies.

If you read the explanations you will see that some of thm got the bonuses based on an increase that was Caused from laying off thousands of employees.
So they lay off thousands of people. That creates an increase in efficiency and they get a bonus.

I didn't read it but,ya that **** sucks.
One thing I have learned is:
There is controlables & uncontrolables I only worry bout the controlables cause the uncontrolables that's what they are.
That type of thinking works for me most of the time.
