Default carnage at the track

i took my truck to the track two weekends ago. its been finished for a few months now and ive been itching to see what this truck can do! so when i get to the track i put a few gallons of race gas in and turn the meth up. then when my class gets called i finally get up to the burnout pad. then things go south.

as soon as the tires got hot, the truck got all squirlly and kept wanting to shoot left. so, after staging i get the green light. i slipped and slided to a 2.0 60ft, then i shut it down because it started making a bunch of noise in the rear.
i then knew i broke an axle. after getting it all apart at the house i got to see the rest of the damage. everything except the housing is trash.
so last week i ordered a set of 35spline currie axles and a built strange center section with a detroit locker. if i get the parts in before this weekend then im going for round two on sat.

Woot! new carnage pictures. Have to say that's the first axle I've seen let go in a while.

How many splines was the axle you broke? It's a 9" right?

i pulled this 9inch out of a 1968 f100. i put a currie 9+ in it and left the stock 28spline axles in it. i thought maybe this setup would hold out together for a while and then i would upgrade later. wrong!

I've heard the 28 spline units were fairly weak, but it sucks that it broke on the first outing. The new shafts and third member should be plenty strong though. Good luck on getting them in soon. That thing is going to fly once it makes a solid pass.

well, i did get "1" full pass. i dont have all the proper safety equipment to run this truck all out without getting kicked off the track. so, i was going to run it a few times to get a feel for it, then make one last all out pass. so, i start off against an 02 vette. he takes off first, but i quickly get back in front of him and stay there to the end. i ended up with a 13.38 w/ a 1.98 60ft. then on the return road the truck starts jumping in and out of gear and my engine light comes on. 0758.so i call it a day. if this crap keeps up i may switch over to a th400!
