Default Difference between the 1500HD and the 2500HD

Mostly curious about the rear end, I know they have the same Engine and Trans.

But I am still curious about what other differences there may be.

1500HD is like my 2500LD. 9.5 semi floating rear and frame is smaller from rear tire back. GVW I think is 8600

1500HD/2500LD from 03-on:

6.0/80e only
2wd or 4wd
crew cab short box only
8 lug hubs
shorter frame or shorter body mounts...not sure on that one for sure...i think its frame though
lower GVW
lower tow rating
9.5 semi floating axle
same brakes as 2500hd i believe
im sure there are more things...but thats just what i remember from my dealership days.

i like they way the look...especially the GMC with no black grille spacer.

1500HD only available in crew cab and body mounts are ~2" lower on the frame than the 2500HD due to the lack of the Max/Alli option. (and as mentioned earlier rear end and Frame narrowing past the rear axle are the only other differences that I know of) Rear leafs may be different (not sure) but all other suspension components are the same.

Yea as said the 1500hd came with the 9.5" 14b SF, where the 2500hd came with the 10.5" 14b sf behind the 6.0 and 8.1. I think the duramax got the 11.5" rear, or that may just be the 3500, not sure.

There was not a 1500hd in 2004.

1500hd only came in 6.0

should have always been that way since (cab size aside) it is the exact truck as the ecsb 2500 of the same years.
