Thinking about picking up something for traction once the motor goes in. I've heard that with slicks theres a potential for the good 'ol G80 to boom? which would be more wise keeping the rearend in mind?

Bite the bullet man. Any way you look at it your going to need a new rearend, right?? Why chance it, if your wanting a tire to hook....

TRU-TRAC= El bullet proofo :jest:

Do you have an extra set of rims for the track?

I have both radials and slicks the drag radials are 275/40/17 m/t et radials and i cut a 1.74 60' with them the best with the 27x10.50x 16 et streets was 1.80 that day but it was probably cause im running on 3.42 gears. et streets do not hook worth a shit on the street the drag radials are a night and day difference on the street but not as good as the nitto 555r's on the street.

When you say the et streets didn't hook, is it at least a pullin spin where you are at least movin forward? while a regular radial will just sit in one spot while you boil them away to little gobs of goo

In my experience it seems to me that slicks are easier on rear ends/axles than drag radials are...

...but I'm not saying your G80 will survive with slicks and not with drag radials.

first run at track ever with a motor pass i pulled a 1.81 on my et street radials. they hooked hard i gotta left harder on motor but was just seeing how it went down the track. then i put the slicks on and cut a 1.6 on the bottle. i would have kept the radials but there too much to waste at the track when i got a set of slicks. but there 29.50x9x15 et drags and they even hook on the street hard i can leave 20 feet out on the bottle.

and tru-trac for the win!!

alright well good info guys. I think I may just run some radials for the time being to take it easier on the G80 and just get some sort of traction. Then again we'll find out how bad traction is today

the et streets pull while leaving 2 light marks for 100 or so feet on motor and the m/t drag radials leave maybe 20 feet of very light marks but this is not stalling it up cause then they are both useless or to me they are but my converter flashes very high .

your g80 is going to shit the bed regardless of which tires you run. i say run drag radials. They are better on the top end, you can still drive with them on the street and they have more than enough hooking power for you combo.
