Default Octane delema

Here in Maine 93 octane is starting to become harder to find. When I go down for the tune from slowhawk this week I am debating on filling the tank with 91 vs 93. I don't know if it makes a darn bit of difference but I like to stick to top tier gas stations. The issue is that all the top tier stations run 93 in my local area... but they are not always around when I travel distances away in maine.( not sure what Mass, NH and CT are like I've heard octane booster bottles shouldn't really be trusted.. will I really lose that much timing by going to 91 oct? If i get tuned for 93 but then have to fill up with 91.. will u be ok in part throttle boost?

I'd say 91 is fine then. The only thing i've see above 91 in oklahoma is 110. If your elevation is about the same as ours you'd be fine.

You should be ok at part throttle with a well done 93 tune. My truck is tuned for 93, and one time I had to use 87 octane gas (a gallon or so) just to make it to the gas station to fill up. No audible knocking or ticking, and I drove almost normal on the way to the station. I've never ran my truck out of gas before, but my AWESOME GM gauge loves to not tell me how much gas I have alot of the times, and was reading half a tank instead of empty

Maines highest point is 5,267ft and Oklahomas Highest is 4,973ft.

I say run 91 and save yourself the trouble.

We only have 91 here in CA. (sucks) but if you are going to be traveling alot I'd just tune it for the 91 and be done with it. Not even sure 2 octane is going to make much of a difference.

I was going to think so.. but then why not use 89, then why not use 87.. I am just more worried since the radix does raise iat and don't want to have to yank timing
