Regular Cab Suboofer Recomendations
#1
Hey guys I have a Regular Cab Truck and need to design a new sub enclosure. I had a single 12'' Audiobahn Flame excursion in a 1.2cuft sealed box driven by an alpine MRD-m1005. The amp is a mono block and has 700rms at 4ohms/1000rms at 2ohms. The audiobahn was really nice but i pushed her too hard and she blew out...so now I need to do something else and am completely stuck...I've searched and looked at a lot of set-ups on here and i just don't know. I listen to probably 60% hard rock and the rest is rap. My questions for you are: which is better one or two subs, ported or sealed? I was thinking of running 2 solo-baric 10" in separate sealed boxes...would I be better running a single 10" or 12" and porting it? The mounting depth needs to stay around 6.5" or less and I want to stay behind the seats with a functional center console. Thanks for all your help in advance.

I have 2 10" solo barics, when I did all my measuring it comes out that the L5 fit without having the seat forward at all which is where I sit. The L7s the seat has to be forward 2-3 clicks. This is all in .75 cuft separate sealed boxes made as shallow as possible.
I don't listen to it very loud, my amp(RF Power1000bd) is always about 1/16 of an inch from being off on the gain, putting out about 300 watts for both subs. When I want to show off I turn it up to about half way, which is about 800-900 watts, and it is crazy how loud they get in that little cab.

Nice to hear, I just bought two L7's and plan on going with two sealed enclosures. Do you have any poly-fill in the boxes...and also if you could without too much hassle give me some of your measurements-I have an idea but it would be nice too see someone else's set-up. Thanks for all the help-I also called kicker and this is what they suggested...Thanks again for the help.

I put as much poly fill in to fill the box, but I fluffed it as much as possible. I tried it first without it, and it didn't make any difference to my ears, but on a sealed box it should have it so I left it. My truck is at my shop, so when I go there monday I will measure my box for you, but yours will need to be a little deeper, but not much. I looked on the kicker site, and there is only 1/16" difference in the L5-L7.
