I dont know if i'm posting this in the right section so mods please don get mad. I took my 04 RST to get inspected at work yesterday. It failed due to the Catalyst and Evap systems not being ready. I know that when i disconnected the battery when i did my slave cyl. it cleared the computer. The only mods i've done since last inspection were the Dynatech LTs and a new Flowmaster cat back with a super 44 muffler. I've driven the truck almost 300 miles since i reconnected the battery. Shouldn't that be enough for everything to set? Might it be an exhaust leak. I doubt it would be an o2 sensor cz theres no MIL,no stored codes and our inspection machine hecks for o2 sensor activity. I'm totally lost and i know most of you guys know ur sh*t. any help or idea would be appreciated:confused:

You'd think 300 miles would do it, but it may need more. Each manufacturer has their own set of "drive cycle" rules. http://obdii.com/ Not that will help you with the RST, but maybe you can search down the drive cycle for Dodges.

Those monitors reset every time the key is turned off, and there are a few parameters that have to be met before all of the readiness tests will run. Your truck didn't fail because something is necessarily wrong, but because the catalyst and evap monitors didn't meet all of the necessary conditions to run.

should i try clearing the computer and try to see if i can set everything correctly. Some of the techs at my job said it wont set the parameters bc i was hard on the truck after i reconnected the battery. should i disconnect it again and try the driving cycle that dewmanshu gave me the link to?

Unfortunately, disconnecting the battery or clearing the data in the computer isn't going to help the monitors to run, you just have to drive it until the parameters are met. I'd just start it up and do the drive cyle that dewey linked to. If you have access to a good scan tool, you can drive it with the scan tool hooked up and check the monitor status. I've done this many times for our customers who come in who need a NJ state inspection.
