UPDATE 4/30/08

This will be a private track rental on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Houston Raceway Park.

Please see the following thread for details
http://performancetrucks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=417090

I saw in another thread that beastmode was planning on coming to TX later in Nov-Dec 2008. I'd be interested in coming as well if there's a big enough gathering. I'd love to meet some of you Texas guys.

So....someone in TX pick a date and a place and let's do this!

I would be up for it!!

Which has the better track, Houston or San Antonio?

beastmode
04-03-2008, 11:40 PM
Txsilverado and Silver-mod-o were talking about HRP, I know NOTHING of the area  so you guys will have to pick the best date and track. Definitely looking forward to making the trip though!

it would be cool if we could have a GTG at Noproblem Raceway in November.
us southerners have been putting it off now for a couple of years.

if people from the west are really serious in coming, I would say HRP, that way south texas, lousiana and east people can all come? if we do it san antonio im pretty sure alot of the lousiana guys wont make it? plus HRP is at sea level so and is always prepped good!

ZZebes
04-04-2008, 01:09 AM
Houston For sure

HRP is the shit and you northern guys will get to see your trucks drop damn near a half second from the DA alone

I'll start looking Into setting up a track day if ya'll want

Ennis ?

I would be up for it!!

i have raced at 2 out of the 3 here but i know many people said san antonio
don't hook so i would think coming all the way down you want to go to a hooking track. both ennis and hpr hook and hook reallt good and they are some great tracks.

TXsilverado
04-04-2008, 10:44 AM
my vote is HRP. if we get enough ppl and set a date we can rent the track. we could invite halo club too to get more trucks out there. theres also a dodge club in houston thats pretty big.

lady knows someone over there that might be able to help out.

BlackGMC
04-04-2008, 11:02 AM
I can offer a few guys a place to crash. I have a couple of spare bedrooms and a couple of couches... Plus a garage and tools if you need some maintence... I live in fort worth which 1 hour from ennis or ~4 from houston...

dlt76028
04-04-2008, 11:26 AM
i say houston. theres so many people that live in the surrounding areas that could come.

ZZebes
04-04-2008, 11:48 AM
OMG a meet that i don't have to drive 20 hours to get to Fuckin a

i'd say between thanksgiving and Christmas would be good, it will be cooler, well relatively

I'll call HRP today and talk to them about a track rental and see what weekends they have available

as for hotel, HRP is located near baytown, once we figure out what part of town ya'll want to stay in we can go from there

Houston is HUGE and we are scattered everywhere, Unlike you AZ guys that seem to all live in the same house haha

let lady make that phone call since she seems to know someone? if she has the hookup maybe we can rent the track for cheaper than what they are asking for?

Is this a done deal? My guess is this would be 1 of the largest PT.net gatherings to date. Any contact w/ the Lady about this? If this is held before Thankgiving, I'd like to go. Only if $ and my tranny are ok. After T-day, I'm out, due to work. I gotta request time off soon tho, so earlier info helps all going. Duh! I know there are some who would travel a great distance for this. Thunder550, Beasty, & I all have to travel over 1000 miles & 14-22 hours. If I'm drivin 22 hrs., I wanna race!!!:eyes:

On another note, did ya'll vote on LSX truck class? I don't wanna jack here, so see/ comment on that thread elsewhere.

The good thing about 9 months away is that people will have more time to plan and save :) This should be a pretty damn big meet since it's centrally located for anyone who lives in the southern half of the US.

thunder550
04-07-2008, 02:37 PM
Well I better bring my engine hoist and tools so I can pull all your engines when you're not looking and take them home with me. Let's see.....if there's 4 guys from AZ coming, we can probably get 3 engines in the back of each truck...that's 12 motors ;) That should help pay for gas

silver-mod-o

in all seriousness though... most of you guys coming from a good distance and different climate should bring tuning software to make adjustments for our air... esp you f/i guys. Nitrous guys, make sure you fill up your atmosphere before you come down :)

I saw in another thread that beastmode was planning on coming to TX later in Nov-Dec 2008. I'd be interested in coming as well if there's a big enough gathering. I'd love to meet some of you Texas guys.

Gentlemen...

I know Scott Singleton who runs HRP, and this is what he said...

Your wanting to set a weekend date in December? Wow, that's a ways off Lisa!! Our last 4 street nights are Friday Dec. 5,12 and Sunday Dec. 7,14. Might be a little cold by then! October is the best month for good air! Any Street Night I can set something up! Just let me know when!

Personally I'd like to just stick to the date we're already talking about. October is a tough month for me. My brother's b-day is October, along with the Vegas goatrun rally. That's two of my 4 weekends committed already, one of which is a road trip already. How cold is it in Houston in December?

Gentlemen...

This is the reply that I received from Scott Singleton of HRP....

Lisa, Friday DEC. 13th would be fine but Saturday the 14th the track is not open. I can Offer 1/2 price on everything. Tech Cards to race would be $10.00 and to watch would be $5.00. I would just have to have a list with everyone's name on it for the Pit Gate spectators included.

At this point I think having a poll for a date would be the best order. Someone set up the poll and let me know what you'd like to have...

TY for the kind words. I may not have the fastest truck or know all there is to know about trucks, but I'd like to chip in when I can. So my keeping in touch with Scott over the past year could be a good thing and help with a little discount to boot.

Once I have an idea on what date is chosen (and if someone will please run a poll), I will work on hotel/motel arrangements.

OK here's my deal. We have already called December 13 as the weekend we are doing this. I want to keep it the same weekend to avoid confusion and keep momentum going for this meet. Now that being said, we need to clarify dates. Lisa, you said Saturday, Dec 14 the track is closed. That Saturday is actually the 13th. What is the correct date? If the track is closed that Saturday, do we have the option of Friday or Sunday?

fastnblu
04-21-2008, 12:26 AM
I wasn't try to offend Zebes, or any for that matter, but most people in the world care only of themselves. They only care when their world is affected. BTW, Dec.12 is a Fri, therefore as Thunder stated Sat is the 13th. All in all, no matter who comes, it'll be a good time!

I personally would prefer the track meet on a saturday, only because thats around the holidays, so compensate for some mild saving for this event (gas, food, room, etc) plus taking 2-3 workdays off I still need to be in a decent place for Christmas. Only my thoughts, hopefully the confusion in date will be worked out. Either way I still vote for a saturday track day :)

Ok well it looks like our only two options for hitting the track that weekend are night drags on either Friday Dec 12 or Sunday Dec 14. OK just got off the phone and I was quoted $6,000.00 for the whole day that includes the Starter and the Ambulance and the track rental for the day....So with that being said it is now back in your ballpark for the next step..Just let me know what we should do next and I'll handle it here on my end...

HOLY SHIT $6,000????? Damn I am gonna have close to $500 in gas just to get down there in back

Are we gonna have 60 ppl or more, that would get us down to $100/person atleast??

TXsilverado
04-30-2008, 12:52 PM
i serousley think we can get 100 trucks to show up. that would come out to 60$ per truck...TOTALLY WORTH IT IMO. even if it came out to 100 per truck i would go.

if we go on a friday or sunday it will be a wasted drive:judge:you will get to make MAYBE 4 passes. it gets PACKED!

i think the halo guys could bring atleast 15-20 BAD ASS trucks. i know most of texas truck scene would show up, so count them for 10-15 trucks, then us and i can invite the dodge guys out....i think it would be sweet to have all trucks and a few cars for us to beat up on(daniel:engarde:)

thunder550

IF we decide to rent the track out we would have to get payment in advance for this...I know how this shit goes and when a single person pays in advance and tries to collect later from everyone else they always get screwed. I refuse to be that person, and I don't want anyone else to get screwed either. What do you guys think.....try and get enough trucks to rent the track (would that be so many that we won't get many runs in anyway??) or try and find a different weekend where maybe there's an all day test-n-tune or something?

beastmode
04-30-2008, 01:52 PM
Like Stew said, if it comes to $100/person its definitely worth it... I just dont wanna have like 30 ppl show and have to pay $200/person or worse, not be able to race.

Btw... 100 ppl at the track isnt alot at all, especially for all day. You figure thats only 49 more runs before you get your next turn. The biggest thing that fucks everything up at TnT is bike, snowmobiles, JR dragsters, racing the different groups. We rented a local track with 25 guys for about 4 hours... I seriously got in 15 runs and I was letting the truck sit most of the time and that was with only one lane open. We could easily get a run in every 1/2 hour if you want

Rental is definitely the way to go, we just gotta get it to were we are only paying at most $100/person

I suggested to a few that there be a Paypal account opended up under (PT.net) and everyone who's going pay up front then that way we know the $$$$$ is there....Pay for the track rental once the $6K is paid up if $$$$$ is left over then divide whats left over among the one's who are there also if you pay and dont show theres no refunds....There has to be a definate list that I was told that I would have to get it to him. If your not on the list your not allowed to enter....

Ok so here's my proposition. We set up a new paypal account, and everyone contributes their $100. If we get enough to pay for the track rental by a predertimed cutoff date, like Oct 1 or something, all that money goes towards the rental. If not, all of the money gets refunded back to the people who paid. Seems like a win-win, other than the fact that people who pay might be out $100 for a couple months until we determine whether or not we will have enough people to rent the track. What do you guys think?

full day sounds more fun IMO. people are driving a long ways to race.

so at 100 per car i say we shut down the list at 60 trucks. no refunds, no bs. redistributing money back to racers could become a royal PITA. it will also encourage people to pay up faster because theres a limited # of spots. make sure and invite 9ball from tech. im sure he wouldnt mind seeing what he created haha.

im sure the track could set up an index or bracket race if we ask them to. hell, for 6,000 bux they aughta:judge:

Yes for more money they can, we can setup our own if we want. But not sure if they will setup the lights for the same price.

its 7 months away, around the holidays, etc... that's what i think the delima is here.
i'm sure people's priorities will change during that long of a period.
(things pop up, money, family issues, work schedules etc...)
also not getting a refund of not showing up will possibly turn people away.

The problem with letting people get refunds is that if they bail at the last minute and get their money back, that chunk comes out of someone else's pocket since we were counting on their money to pay part of the track fee. I don't want me or someone else to end up being on the hook for an extra $1000 if a few people decide not to come at the last minute. I have organized stuff like that before and I always end up getting shafted and paying 2 to 3 times what other people pay. I can't afford to do that this time, especially with the amount of money we're dealing with here.

bluecajun5.3
05-02-2008, 01:08 PM
ok we're talking a minimum of 60 trucks paying $100 to = $6,000 for the track rental.
if there are more than 60 trucks, the left over money can be refunded to the know shows. i understand perfectly where you are coming from, we had the same problem here and the organizer chunked out the rest. but no refunds would be more practicle if it were a month away.

That's a thought....then again, you have to consider whether it would be more fair to refund the no-shows or reduce everybody's cost by refunding the excess evenly across all of the attendees. I'm open to suggestions/opinions on this.

I personally say leave it the way it is....no show no refund...Those who do show more than 60 or even more etc...get $$$$$ back in what the difference is....I also asked about the concession stand but my personal opinion if theres $$$$$ left over get someone to go to the store and get makings for BBQ or hamburgers or have Pizza brought out and drinks just another suggestion..after 8 hours people will be hungry..

I like the food and BBQ idea, IMO that would be better than getting $11.84 (made up number) refunded to me....

I hope we get the 60 trucks, cause it would be damn awesome to run as many times as you want without having to be in the staging lanes for 2-3hrs between runs... im pretty sure alot of us know the feeling of that, its sux!! so $100 is damn good for unlimited racing!!

well the way I see it is we charge 5 bucks at the gate for anyone 18 or older and 10buck to the people that want to race, after we reach the 6000k, and the ones that paid the 100 bucks for the track rental is free to race all day for them, this way money is brought back to everyone that made it possible.

I'm saying this because alot of people will show but don't want to pay 100 bucks for the track rental. we just have to have 60 people willing to put up the 100bucks first ahhaha.

Well we're giving people 4 months to save $100...shouldn't be too tough. We can deal with late add-ins later, I'm sure there will be a few requests. For now, I'd like to just worry about getting the initial 60 trucks so we can give this event the offical green light.
