Tuning a new GM truck
#1
I've got a '99 GMC Sierra that I've tried some of the tuning tricks such as deleting torque managment, playing with the spark tables, etc. Well, my dad drove the truck and was really impressed with the power/response that it picked up. He's curious about doing the same to his 2007 Avalanche. Problem is, its under a 100k warranty. I'm assuming that deleting the torque management will void the warranty. Does anyone know for sure? How likely are they to find out if I do some tuning on his Avalanche?

They can't just void the warranty for any mod. The can however deny a clam if they can prove that your modification caused the failure. There is case law to back this up. What software/cable are you using to do the tuning? Most likely if its older it won't work on the 07 Avy since they use a new style of communication protocol called CAN, where the older PCMs like your truck is VPW.
