Default '00 f150 auto trans problem

It is a 5.4/auto. 4x4 lariat. 170k miles. Trans will get to shift point and then flash rev about 1000 more rpm. Like you threw it in neutral or something. Have to let off gas to get truck to shift. Then sometimes it will cause the whole truck to shake. When the trans shifts it goes in hard. Kinda bangs. no noise. truck idles fine in neutral and park. When put in D or R and hold the brakes the truck shakes. You can feel it on every cylinder fire. Like the truck is just chugging or something. Could this be a converter prob instead of the trans? What to do? Time for new trans or build the old one? What dollar amount am i looking to spend?

Damn dude, sorry I'm way late on the the reply here. More than likely the verter. I'm not sure what the going rate is on those bad boys. I'll get ahold of SVT_Scott and see what he says, if you haven't already figured it out, lol.

I fixed the shaking problem. It was my fault. I sprayed the engine with water while washing the truck. That caused the #1 coil to go bad. Apparently the motor shakes like hell on 7 cylinders. Anyway after that was fixed a few days later the trans finally went. Now I only have 1st and 2nd gear. It won't shift into 3 or OD. Not even when letting off the gas.

Ah, yep. That'll do it. What are you throwing back in there?
