Default service airbag

so what would it take to not have the airbags in the truck and no light come on, say if I were to take out both bags and all the senors and wires, would the light still show up? I understand these are needed for inspection blah blah, but with one gone with a custom steering wheel the system is already thrown off. anyone know?

Pull/cut the little bulb out behind the airbag symbol.

If your OBDII is like ours it will not matter if the airbag light is on. All DMV is looking for are emission related codes, not body codes.

And to answer your ?, If you could somehow find the resistance of an airbag, then get a resistor really close to that and cram that into the airbag connector you should be ok. All the airbag system is looking for is a resistance value...

BUT it is not recommended to check resistance of an airbag module!!!!!

I said it, you have been warned.... Nothig would probably happen, but there is a chance of you setting it off.

I have no clue how to find stuff like that, Im not a electronics guy. Anyway I could find it in like a wiring harness or something? I guess I could just solder (thanks king kevin) the bulb after I pull the airbags. Sucks I cant sell them, I guess Ill just blow em up.

The resistance is 10ohm BTW. I did and 03 Hd with the message center and all that ****. You gota cut the plugs off the ends and put in a resistor in each side, or make a jumper wire from one bag to the other and just use one resistor. It was a bitch figuring it all out but its killer not having the light and service airbag evertime it starts.

Mine failed state inspection because the DIC message "service air bag" and a few other things like my Tach mounted on dash, tinted taillights, exhaust cutout. Anyway... I just replugged all the harness stuff back in and cut the fluid filled tube coming out of the pass seat and plugged it. Also if the vehicle comes with this stuff, it's gotta be functioning properly (or look like it does) to pass a state vehicle inspection. From what I've been told, only the dealer can clear the message. Not a handheld or tuner package available with the capability to do it. What a PITA. I understand being safe and not endangering others, but damn the old trucks/cars didn't have this stuff and people still managed to drive to work, go cruising AND make a few runs at the track. I think a cell phone warning light/ engine cutoff relay would be more useful for most people !
