Default 60e to 80e flexplate

do you have to change the flex plate when doing this swap on a 5.3 or can you reuse the 5.3 flexplate and just change converters? and if you can use the 5.3 flex plate, i'm assuming you don't have to have the crank spacer. last question. if you don't have to convert to the 6.0 flex plate, why is it recommended to do so? thanks for all the help.

The 5.3 flexplate will work, but you may need a spacer.

The easiest thing is to swap flexplates. Then you can use any converter made for the 80E. If you have the tranny out already, the flexplate is just held on by 6 bolts anyway.
