Just thought I would see what kind of miles everyone had on there trucks and there likes, dislikes and problems with there new trucks. Just a poll of the new trucks.
I have 19500 miles on my truck bought March 25 built sometime in January can't rember.
Likes: Rides great, Interior very very nice, Lots of power, Looks. I pretty much love the truck
Dislikes: 4l70e shifts like crap and only a 4speed, TM is out of control, Wish I bought the diesel, The way the nose sits low. Thats about it
Problems: Back up sensor are on sometimes and off other, Traction control comes of and on sometimes, Driver seat has some stiching coming lose, Having almost 20k on it in less then year.
Overall love the truck but wish I bought the diesel due to all the pulling I have been doing

put a tune in it, it will be like having another new truck
put a 2" shackle in the rear, to level it
only things I don't like are hvac controls[ltz] and noisey e-fans.
the rest of the rig is awesome

6 months, 5000 miles. RCSB 5.3flex/20's/loaded. Added body color mirrors, handles, signal mirrors, dropped back 3".
Love the interior (comfy!) and the handling. Mileage is about 20-25% better than my 97 RCSB, power is ok but the TM is crazy.
Could use more space behind the seat (the way they do the vertical wall material is kinda odd, it "rolls" and takes up space). Lots of room under the seats though and the center spaces are huge! Upper glovebox could fit bit better too. Other than that assembly is excellent, no squeaks or rattles and tight gaps everywhere. Solid truck. Very nice to drive.
Of course everyone is waiting for the 6 speed auto. Should be an easy swap when the time comes, our trucks are the same as current 6.2L/6speed machines so plug and play pretty much (or trade in!).
My only real gripe is how GM and all other manufacturers won't let you order certain options on reg cabs, so you have to add them yourself...

i hate the TM, but it does probably make me drive less like a heathen. im at about 7k miles, and so far so good. im gonna get a tune, but i know once i start with the mods, i wont quit...so im putting it off as long as possible. i sold my c5 vette for it, and other than the pimp factor of the vette, i like the truck more.....

5800 miles on it now, extended cab regular bed. For a truck its pretty damn smooth and quiet in the interior. Torque management does blow though, especially with having just the 4.8 but with 3.23s it will drop back down to 2nd at 70 and take off hard. I have definitely grown to love it, just wish I could've afforded an LT2 model at the time but I was impatient and jumped the gun and bought it on impulse.
Only problem is with the 60e, upon slowing down it downshifts back into 1st roughly. Or sometimes when I do more of a sudden stop and then let go of the brakes it abruptly grabs first and the whole driveline clunks as if it was under load and then just released it. Any ideas?

4200 miles so far, ECSB 4x4 vmax
2 inch leveling kit fixed the low front end problem
Love the look, expecially with the color matched grill
Love the 4.10 gears and the power, nothin like a smokey burnout with 33's lol
Hate the TM
Hate the gas mileage ( 11-12 mpg)
cant wait to see the difference after a cai/ catback and tune
is it true that the motor runs rich for a certian amount of miles?

that is TM at its best!!!!! i brought mine back to the dealer complaining of the same thing, and they showed me a memo from HQ that said this would happen from "aggressive driving" and that nothing was to be done by the dealer. they also told me (in confidence) that it could be fixed with programing, but that they were not allowed to do it..... and having it done would void the warranty.

16,000 miles. purchased new in April
I've spent almost $5,000 turning this truck into the vette I wanted to get, lol.
I'm not done, but I am close. If I would have purchased the vette my gas bill would be lower, lol.
The only problem I have with this truck is the rattling inside the a/c vents at fans speeds above 50%.

2500 miles purchased new in August. like the looks, love the interior, the seats are very comfortable. rides and handles great, sounds great with the hooker muffler.many blind spots due to small windows and large roof pillars and huge front end. hate how it runs with stock tune; torque management is :gay: , power output is pathetic on the stock tune. after the tune it had substantial power gains, but throttle response was still :turd: due to no adjustments available for the throttle blade opening speed on hptuners. running on stock tune for now until my tuner can get back in it to see if he can make a miracle happen. did i mention torque management sucks?..............

I barely have 1200 miles on 07 Vmax and no problems so far. I like how I can let is sit for two weeks (definetly not my daily driver) and the battery doesn't go dead like my 04 did. Can't wait to pull a loaded car/trailer to compare against my old truck and my Father's 04 2500 6.0/4L80 CCSB.
Please someone tell me the lack of power and throttle response you can measure with a sundial will lessen once it gets "broken in"! I will seriously look into getting a tune if the difference is night vs. day and it DOES NOT VOID the 100k powertrain warranty. Also, the 4k rev limiter in Park is kinda gay, not like I was planning on dropping it into drive at that RPM, just want to hear the exhaust note.
Not sure if I'll even mod this one at all, I've got other toys for that.

You can disable the AFM without a full tune if you are just learning (like me). It is simply a field that you either select "enable" or "disable."

I gathered that. Is it better to get it tuned if you turn it off? Or will it effect anything to enough to where ya have to. I dont have any tuning programs, or any experience. But I figure if hes gonna pay someone to take his PCM and turn it off, he might as well get it tuned as well, correct?

Most definitely. Just turning off AFM won't affect anything else but if he dislikes it enough to pay to have it disabled then its a no-brainer to pay a bit more and get the rest of it tuned properly.

My 70E does this all the freaking time and it is seriously driving me crazy, when I hit the gas hard sometimes it feels like something is going to break.
As well, the damn kickdown/throttle delay that happens at the same time is dangerous. If I'm coasting and suddenly need to move, I want the truck to haul when i hit the gas! Not sit there and thing about it for a few seconds before kicking down and accelerating!
Can a tune fix that?! Or do I need to do a drivetrain swap because I'm itching to throw in an LS2/LS3 + 6 speed and have already started talking to guys about what wiring harness mods I need to do. All these electrical nannies are pissing me off. I don't care that it's a truck, i want it to be goddam fast and noisy.

'07 Denali with the 6.2 L92 and the 6L80E here. I've had it about 6 months and currently have about 7,000 miles on the clock.
The truck runs great. I disabled all TM and all traction control stuff (who needs TCS with AWD??) the day I bought it! After a lot of tuning, it runs strong in all gears and it does what my right foot tells it too.
It has recently started making a high pitched whine at low speeds. Sounds like it's coming from one of the wheels. Gonna take it in and have it looked at. Other than the noise it's now making and the gay roof rack, I love it! :D

Mine is a 2008...bought 8/28/07 and now has 1200 miles.
1) Since it has gotten cold in the mornings it has started to make a sqeeking noise like a fan belts loose.....this only happens for about 30sec when starting from a cold condition.
2) Also, the voltage gauge reads over 14v, then it slowly creeps down below that after 15min of driving (just wondering if the alternator bearing is bad causing the cold squell and this voltage drop...whatcha think?)
3) Has a rough idle that varys 200rpms...done this since day one and does it with no A/C or anything else on...in park or drive.
Anyone else have these problems?
niugnep
11-17-2007, 01:32 PM
The electrical system on these trucks is designed to reduce the output if its not needed, you will see the voltage move around a lot. I'd say your condition is normal, it charges the battery after a start plus the accessories are cold, so takes some power to run them but once up to temp drops off as not needed. They reduce the load on the alternator to -get this- improve gas mileage!
They all could be related but I doubt it. I seem to recall a SB on the squeak, but obviously the best thing to do is take it in for warranty and let them have a look.
UPDATE: The SB was for a squeaking noise on startup from the a/c belt when temperature was over 35 degrees C (95 degrees f), not for when it was cold.

Not really.there are so many things that could cause issues no point guessing...sensor issue, software tweak, mechanical issue, etc. I didn't see anything obvious in the SB's about it (and I'm not a GM employee so my access is somewhat limited too).

How much does the idle change? 20-50 rpms or a lot? Mine will settle in at about 575 when it's warm and in gear. When you figure out the issue and get your tune. Charlie can set the idle at what ever you want. I had to bump it up about 75 rpms to get rid of a small stumble in my '06.

Just bought and picked up an 08 Extended cab Silverado LT1 on Saturday. The wife drove it home from the dealer. I go out to start it up a couple hours later and notice the gas gauge is empty. I asked her if the dealer filled it up before she took it, and she said she thought so. We even called the salesman, and he said yes, he put in $71.00 worth. Well crap, either he's lying, or someone syphoned our tank. Or so I thought. I went up to the gas station to fill it, and it stopped at 2.5 gallons. WTF? The tank is full, the gas gauge says empty.
So, it goes back to the dealer today. From what I am told, they are changing the fuel computer. 200 trucks on the lot, and I pick the one with a bad fuel computer. Sheez!

:mad2: Well, an update, my wife goes to pick the truck up (I'm out of town for a couple days working). They come back and say the fuel computer didn't fix it, so it's gotta be the float. Took them all day for this. They say it's internally shorted. She asks if they think it's safe to drive (shorts can equal sparks, and in a fuel tank that isn't so good). They say yeah. So she gets in, starts it up and it's running fine, but now has a check engine light. This wasn't on previously. They say they can't clear the light until they replace the fuel float. WTF, it wasn't on when it came in, why is it on now? They can't answer that question. Now to make things even a little more weird, the low level light isn't on even though the gause shows below "E". It was on when we brought it into the dealer.
I understand there will be problems with vehicles when they are new, but I sure would like better service from the dealer that sold it to us.

Okay...it does get better once the truck warms up. My tach isnt digital so I can nail it down to 20rpms...but it idles at 500rpms then jumps up about 100rpms or little less for just a sec or two, then falls back down to 500rpms for about 20sec, then jumps back up again. This is with no AC on, so its not the compressor kicking on. This is more noticeable in Park.

um.......problems...
gay 2500 wheels, not enough power uphill with a 24 ft enclosed trailer, wish the damn nav would keep me off restricted roads when i hit tow haul (blinkers go 6x vs 3x so da truck knows) horrific gas milage, 9K miles city/highway/towing averages like 8 mpg. Battery died at the track one day the hour meter reset.
oh the 98 mph governor was annoying at times too (like the test drive with 5 miles on it)
fixes so far, well its got a supercharger and 537 at the wheels and a tune, and the MPG went up, and some nice 20 inch rims (went with non-lifted offset so not as much lip as I wanted but I can fit thru the carwash and drivethru barely)
all in all I like the truck, just wished they offered more motor choices for a 3/4 ton that I bought to run hard.

You can change the nav system road selection. Just go to menu/nav and look there you can make it take you on all highways/all back roads etc it has the option to change it. The 4.5 dmax will be in the new subs in a year or so.

there are highways that are restricted for commercial/trailers, I know the backroad dead, but there are highways that are legit with trailers as well.
the GM guys at sema said I won't be seeing a diesel 3/4 ton sub till next body style......they haven't had one since 99 10 years....
Then why is there a 4.5 dmax in a Subs runing around on the auto show circut. They say 10 model in 09 but maybe thats just for the 1500
