It's really interesting to watch how the air flows in around the intake valve. Now I really understand what the significance is of unshrouding valves.

 

That is freakin awesome, and one tough little camera, so know who wants to calc how many degrees advance that motor has cause its there

 

Hey what do you mean by that chris? Can you explain a little more.

 

There is a lot of talk about increasing valve size to gain more flow. On the other hand, the closer you put the edge of the valve to the cylinder wall, the more the wall blocks airflow. This is my understanding anyway. I have seen a lot of discussion about putting smaller bore heads (like the 5.3's or LS1/LS6) onto larger bore engines to avoid that. At least that's my understanding anyway. I don't know how it translates into increased airflow, but that's what I have gathered from everything I have read. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
