I have and 88 c1500 that needs a new motor becuase the original 350 in it is tired. I was looking at two options. Either a 6.0 with a blower or and ls1 with a rear mount turbo. Let me know you opinions.

View Full Version : 6.0 or ls1? 03BlownHarley 09-05-2007, 01:22 AM I have and 88 c1500 that needs a new motor becuase the original 350 in it is tired. I was looking at two options. Either a 6.0 with a blower or and ls1 with a rear mount turbo. Let me know you opinions. TXsilverado 09-05-2007, 01:31 AM ls1 is usually more expensive and both motors are awesome. i say whichever great deal you run across first wins. im runnin a LS1 only because i got it dirt cheap. i would run a lq4 or lq9 (both 6.0's) anyday. Blown02Sierra 09-11-2007, 05:02 PM So ive decided to go with the 6.0. Should i go lq4 or lq9? Im bolting up a built th400 trans. Possible blower or turbo. EDIT: not my, buddy on wrong account Nick™ 09-11-2007, 05:22 PM blown application? go with a LQ4, with forced induction you don't need the higher compression LQ9, which would usually cost more anyway.... much easier to find a LQ4 also (normally) Low_LQ4 10-06-2007, 01:50 AM Go with the LQ4 if you want to Boost it silveradol33 11-12-2007, 08:49 PM I say go with the lq4 and boost the livin shit outa it!!!!!! 1BADC10 01-04-2008, 12:50 PM 6.0l! Ftw  TXsilverado 01-04-2008, 01:01 PM 6.0l! Ftw  ls1 ftw  (im biased) Project 84 01-04-2008, 11:24 PM Would you go with a LQ4(or LQ9) over an LS2 when you're thinking about giggle gas or huffer in the future? I just want to get in the low 12's with a 4800lbs truck. 1BADC10 01-19-2008, 11:19 AM ls1 ftw  (im biased) Lemme get a bigger money tree, and I'd beat your LS1. TXsilverado 01-19-2008, 11:51 AM Lemme get a bigger money tree, and I'd beat your LS1. bring it:punch: BadAssChevy327 10-29-2008, 08:41 PM i know this is old but id rather bring it back from the dead. i myself would like to run a 6.0 but the advantages of the alum block helpin me shed weight would be sweet also. im looking for around 550 wheel with nitrous. shouldnt this be easily had with a ls1 with soem rod bolts? TXsilverado 10-30-2008, 10:42 AM i say get whichever motor you can find for the cheapest. 550 is doable with a ls1 and nitrous. i put down 409 on motor. its doable with a 6.0 too. hotrod51 11-13-2008, 10:10 AM I am running a LQ4 with a small cam, headers and a MP 122 supercharger through a 4L80E in my 47. Runs good with about 9 psi. with 4.10s I get about 17 mpg at 70 mph. Truck weighs 3200.45982 45983 wastedrubber 11-13-2008, 10:18 AM that truck sounds awesome! ThrottleHappy7 11-14-2008, 02:35 PM Much agreed. lo&sloSierra 11-14-2008, 04:22 PM how can you tell the difference from a lq4 and lq9 by not taking the heads off? hotrod51 11-14-2008, 06:10 PM how can you tell the difference from a lq4 and lq9 by not taking the heads off?
