Well, it always brings a smile to my face to see that GM is trying to save a buck or two by going cheap on their brakes. From day one of owning my new truck I felt brake shutter on slower speed braking. I just had dealer turn the front rotors but problem is still occurring. Im going to take truck back to shop on Friday and ride with the tech. Anyone know of others having this problem? My truck has the factory 20s and I wonder if this could be vibration from those?
Thanks.
John

I have been noticing this problem with mine also. Feels like a rotor out of round. They might have an issue to sort out with the brakes. Please post up if they find out how to fix it...

Yeah a good friend of mine had the same issue, almost guaranteed your rear drums need to be replaced, the dealer mentioned "out of round" sounds odd to me, but his trucks better so lol

I've been watching the bulletins, nothing about brakes....easy check is when going real slow put the park brake on one or two notches and you will feel if they are out of round (for the rear drums) as they slow you down....be careful though, easy to lock up.

Max runout on drums is 0.0024.

Also, hopefully they properly torqued the wheels after turning front discs, seen where the rotors are warped by uneven torquing (pretty uncommon though I think).

anyone ever figure out what caused the brake shudder. sorry to revive an old thread but my truck had the shudders tonight with barely braking at highway speeds. Thought maybe wheels werent on studs right after wheel swap but checked and still good.

I had this on high speed braking and they turned the rotors. Went away...

Yep, I have the same shudder. Dealer turned the front rotors and it went away for a day :bang: I have taken it in multiple times and the dealer "can't re-create the brake shudder":bs: so I have just been living with it till i decide to upgrade my brakes on my own dime

i never have a problem with my truck. but i break them in slow. my moms truck they are always warpped but she drives retarded. alwas brakeing hard from the start. when i do brakes i tell people to drive like grandma for a week. use light brakeing. and no problems.

try this is shudder is still... drive on an open road. set parking brake 2 clicks and if shudder still continues. Its your drums from my understanding. I looked at my rotors and pads and seen no visible damage.

I have an 05 and the rotors cooked pretty easily. I would get the vibration under moderate to hard braking. Turning was a temp fix.

With a Radix and the Law using laser here I would have to bring her down pretty hard and they warped pretty much on demand.

I changed to Raybestos advanced technology rotors and they are holding up very well. I have made a few of the same hard braking conditions and they are fine. Not drilled or slotted.
