I must say the Japanese trucks have come a long way in styling and performance. Sounds great and even though I'm a die hard Chevy guy I like it.
+1 on some track times!

Ill try to soon. My camera is currently in the crapper. As you could tell by that clip, i didnt get back outta the truck to turn it off, it just shut off itself. Im not sure wtf is wrong with it. Anyway, ill try to get maybe a burnout vid and 0-60 etc. before long.

nice truck man, very nice
id like to see some 1/4 mile times
this is just my personal opinion but i think it needs a drastic drop, like a 5/7 or 6/8

I completely agree. Only one available right now is from www.sosperf.com (http://www.sosperf.com) and its a 2/5. I think it needs at least that or a 3/6ish or so.

Nice looking truck, did it come with a limited slip diff? Some aftermarket wheels and a drop would really set the truck off.

Good question. Its got all kinda electronic traction control, auto lsd and vehicle stability control, but it was my impression that all those were computer controlled things that cut power of the engine or power to a particular wheel when slippage etc occured. However, you can disable all of the "safety nannies" and do burn outs etc. I did my first burnout a couple weeks ago and left two distinct black lines as opposed to the single wheel wonder I was expecting, so it may have a limited slip in the rear, I really dont know for sure.

Ah, :thinker: :bang: :) my bad.
It is high. Im waiting to hear some reviews on it and for some other companies (djm, ground force, belltech, mcgaughys) to hopefully release a kit.
Wheels are gonna be a bitch to find, 5x150 bolt pattern, +60 offset (thanks Toyota :boiling: ). Im thinking either 20s or 22s. Havent found any that I like yet that arent $500+ each.:(

Yeah everything is more expensive for the Nissan and Toyota.
You know, I was never that thrilled with the way the new Yotas looked but I had never seen a RC. And all I have to say about that is wow - I really like the way those trucks look without the EC. That's a nice looking truck.

The RC and quad cabs look great, problem is the extended cabs look :doublepuk and thats all they have at the dealership.
Went and sat in one yesterday, didn't try to test drive it since it was a 4.7, $27 for the RC. The quad cab sticker was $52k with dealer add-ons :eek2:

I agree. Rollpan was on my mod list before I got the truck, but when I saw the bumper I figured whats the point. The chrome bumpers are more a normal style and you can get a tow hitch and everything, whereas the sport package bumpers are barely even bumpers and have the step pad on them w/ no tow hitch.

Nice Toy! That might be my next truck too although the back end has NOT grown on me at all. My 2007 Sequoia Limited has the same diff and electronic nannies. You most likely have the Toyota limited slip and 4.10 gears. Thats what I have.
Your going to be SOL on aftermarket support unless you buy it from Toyota. Hell the transmission is sealed... you can't service it or change the torque converter. No shift kits in your future.... but the 5.7 single cab already does 0-60 in high 5 seconds so what do you care?
Throw a K&N intake kit and a 75 hp shot of nitrous on it and call it a day!
Nice truck man, I'd ditch the upper grill insert it just looks weird!
Hurry up and get it to the track so you can be the 1st Toyota to post on the 1/4 mile table!

I bet your right on the rear as I have 4.10s like you said. Aftermarket support is gonna be tough, especially compared to my past GMCs and Dodges. Im planning an AFE intake as my next mod. I finished the grille today and Ill post new pics of it up in the last post (#32) I made regarding the grille. I agree the top looks weird, but its gonna look weird no matter what I do to it lol. I think it would look more weird w/ the factory gray plastic piece in.

Color match the gray piece or mold it in? Costly but would make the front end much nicer.
How is the afe for the new tundra's? They seem to rush there products to the be the first out, they had a few problems with there frontier kits early on.

Good question. I think there are a couple guys who have theirs preordered (not supposed to ship til the 30th), so im just waiting to see. I know a guy who has one on his 05 dodge ram and hes really pleased with it. Ive always heard mostly good things about them and they usually give about avg., decent power gains as the other companies.
Here was what I was talking about. They make good gains, and have a good rep now with the frontiers. Just had issues early on.
I wonder if Urd is going to make parts for you? Top notch stuff!

The TRD stuff is top notch and Toyota approved...it's actually warranted with the factory warranty if installed by the dealer, and I believe warranted for 1 year if owner installed. I'd hold out for the TRD supercharger, just my .02 :)

No track times, sorry fellas. As for fuel, first tanks on the long drive home from picking it up were around 17mpg, i didnt check it the next couple tanks, around 1000 miles fillup I got 18mpg on 90% city, next tank was after my exhaust install and I was...cough...less than easy on it :drive: ....and got 14.5mpg, but then once I got used to the exhaust, next tank, again on about 90% city was back up to 18mpg.
Also, just to add, these are hand figured numbers as mine doesnt have the avg. mpg feature.

It has tq management pretty bad. Its also got all the VSC and trac control stuff that toyotas have. If you disable the VSC itll do great burnouts.
Well, so far Ive done the exhaust, billet grille of course. Next up will be wheels/tires and lower it. Then, depending on what the aftermarket performance situation is Ill either 1. get cai, tuner, long tubes etc. or 2. Ill just wait and save for a TRD supercharger.

I like option 1, then later option 2. I wonder how much is still left on the table? So do you plan running the 1320' or having a dyno done?
Thanks.

06-09-2007, 07:58 PM
I honestly think they have less potential than the LS based GM motors. From the factory they already have short tubes essentially. I may make a trip to Memphis in the fall to try and get a couple runs in, but thats the closest place I know of. I dont even know where a dyno is, but I think is around 2 hours away, so that probly wont happen anytime soon. If I ever happen on some spare cash, I may order up a GTech to just get some ballpark figures.
