How difficult is it to swap from a 2v to a 4v. its in a 97 expedition and I blew a head gasket. looks like its time to do a rebuild now while I have the heads off and all. looking to find the best bang for the buck. its a 5.4 if that matters and it will be a daily driver that is still expected to perform like a truck in towing dutys and all.if you have any suggestions they would be very much appreciated now.

4V isn't going to be ideal for towing. The 2V's actually produce a bit more low end tq than the 4v's do.

But, to answer your question. You'll need the top end off a 4V (Heads, Intake manifolds). You're also probably going to need the timing set and some other small stuff. Easiest thing to do would be find a junker 4V and rebuild it since you already said you're rebuilding the motor anyway.

yeah I just got off the phone with patriot performance about this and I think I will drop that idea lol. I'm thinking thou a nice set of ported PI heads and intake with a decent set of cams would make a nice daily driver. would really like to get a supercharger for it in the future but have no idea how to get the fuel air ratio right. what kinda programs are out there for the fords?

Diablo and SCT are the two biggest names out there right now. There's others that will work, but they're the best imo....

I like the SCT tuners. :judge:
