Default Turbo 400/4l80e?

ive been told before that the only major difference between the 2 trannies is that of course the 4l80e is electronically controlled and has minor differences inside and a fourth gear. can someone tell me the differences,inside and out? or am i totallly wrong and if so correct me.

the 4l80e is just an electronically controlled 400 with overdrive, i believe that the case is a bit shorter on the 400 also.

I think the guy gave me the wrong torque convertor. How do you know if you have the right convertor? I am in the tare down process, it's coming really slow. I have mostly been waiting on parts. Still waiting...
