Just wondering if it had been done before.

GM guys have the limitation of needing a body lift to fit a DMax in the 1500 chassis. Seems like the Dodge 1500's have the same exterior dimensions as the HD models.

That could make one hell of a fast truck.

Not very uncommon. The Cummins adapts pretty well to the 1/2 ton frame with a bit of stiffening and new suspesnion.
Some of the more faster trucks are either 1/2 ton frames or shortened 3/4 ton frames

I was going to do the swap into my 98 ram but i decided I would just put a hefty down payement on a new ram.
