What a wonderful birthday present. I was given this truck on April 13th, 2001,
a day after my 16th birthday. It was a shiny new Victory Red LS 4.8L. What more could a kid ask for. At that time I was content with leaving it stock and just enjoying the ride.

Well as time went by I happened to stumble across LS1tech, which initially got the performance bug biting. Soon after I found myself at the local racetrack scorching down the 1320 with a best time of 15.4 @ 87mph. Man I thought I was really moving. After a few months and many “free mods” later I decided that my truck was missing something.

I started out with a DJM Calmax2 4/6 drop on stock wheels. That managed to get me through the rest of high school and part of tech school. After that came the Billet Specialties 20” wheels and Snugtop bed cover. I was very pleased with the way my truck looked appearance wise, and decided to put a hold on the looks department. Because after all, making a truck look pretty doesn't make it any faster.

I was then informed of a man named Allen Nelson, who was just getting into LSX based engine tuning market. I met up with him in San Antonio where he worked his magic with the stock 4.8 tune. While out there he told me about the engine swap in his “Farmtruck”. I thought it would be a cool idea to swap a bigger engine in my truck but kind of put it in the back of my mind because I never thought I would actually do it.

Well some 6 months later a friend of mine pulled the LS1 out of his Camaro. I picked it up pretty cheap and let it sit in my garage for another 6 months.
I graduated UTI in November of 2004 and decided it would be a great time to swap out the 4.8 with the LS1. I called Allen again and set up a date in December to go visit him for help with the install. Long story short we finished the swap on December 23rd just in time for me to drive my new beast 500 miles back to Dallas. I am very grateful for all of Allens help along the way.

For the next 1.5 years my truck stayed the same. Only performance mods being the LS1, TR224, e-fans,100 shot n2o, and a Yank TT3K. On Drag Radials that netted me a 13.2@ 100 N/A, and a 12.14 @ 110 on n2o.

I was trying to keep the truck tame because it was my daily driver. We’ll the go fast bug started nipping at my feet again so I decided to pick up a daily driver, a ’98 BMW M3. I have since added 241 heads, Pacesetter longtubes, 42# injectors, and a 255lph intank fuel pump. I am hoping to break into the 11’s with the new setup. Future plans include suspension work, turbo(s), more cubes, and a 10 sec timeslip.

I would like to thank all the guys at LS1tech, PT.net, and GMFullsize.com for all the support yall have given me along the way. My truck would be a lot different today if I had not found this online community of truck nuts. Thanks again.
